What is the Ghostface AI trend?+
It is a Halloween AI photo trend that started on TikTok and Instagram in late September 2025. You turn a selfie into a grainy late-90s film photo: you lie on satin bedding on a corded phone in a dim bedroom, and a masked figure in a black hooded robe watches you from the doorway behind. People also call it the AI Scream trend.
How do I do the Ghostface AI trend?+
On this page, press "Create your own", add one clear selfie and press Generate. MakeViral puts you into the scene with the masked figure behind you, and the photo lands in your Library. You write no prompt. To do it by hand instead, copy the photo prompt on this page into an image model that accepts a reference photo, such as Gemini.
What is the Ghostface AI prompt?+
The prompt that went viral asks for a dreamy Y2K portrait on pink satin bedding with a big 90s corded phone, a grainy 90s film look and the masked killer standing in a dark doorway behind you. Our tested prompts, ready to copy, are on this page. They keep your own face and hair and describe the figure without naming the film.
Is the Ghostface trend AI or real?+
The photos are AI. Nobody stood in the doorway: an image model built the room, the phone and the masked figure around a real selfie. A separate, real trend is the Ghostface photoshoot, where a friend wears the costume. US searches for it peaked in October 2025.
Who started the Ghostface AI trend?+
Know Your Meme names a post by Instagram user @cortneydryden on 25 September 2025 as the earliest known example. The trend took off the next day, when TikToker @keepingupwithmuva shared a set of the photos with the prompt and passed 2.7 million views in four days.
Can I do the Ghostface AI trend with Gemini or ChatGPT?+
Yes. Upload your photo, paste the photo prompt from this page and send it. Results change from tool to tool and from run to run. MakeViral uses Nano Banana 2, a Google Gemini image model, with the prompt and the 9:16 format already set, and it can turn the photo into a video with sound in the same run.
Does the Ghostface AI trend work for men?+
Yes. Our prompt keeps your face, hair and gender as they are and dresses you in a plain late-90s outfit, so it works for anyone. For a darker look, pick black or wine red bedding in "Make it yours".
Can I do it with my boyfriend, girlfriend or best friend?+
Yes. Pick "With your partner or friend" and add two photos, one per person. You both lie on the bed at a 90s sleepover, each on a chunky 90s phone, while the masked figure watches from the dark window behind you.
Can I make a Ghostface AI video?+
Yes. Pick "Photo + video". MakeViral makes the photo first, then animates it for 8 seconds: you laugh on the phone, the line goes quiet, you slowly turn around, and the masked figure steps into the lamp light. Standard uses Google's Veo 3.1 Lite and Best uses Veo 3.1 Fast at 1080p. The clip is vertical 9:16 with its own tense sound.
What song do people use for the Ghostface AI trend?+
Most of the first posts used a remix of "Deceptacon" by Le Tigre. Add it, or any sound you like, in TikTok or Instagram when you post. The video version on MakeViral comes with its own original sound, not a real song.
Is this the real Scream mask?+
No. The trend takes its look from the Scream films, but our prompts describe a generic tall figure in a black hooded robe with a long white ghost mask. They never name the film, the character or the costume brand. MakeViral is not connected to the films or to the mask maker. Use the photos for fun posts, not to sell anything.
What is the subservient Ghostface AI website?+
It is a different thing. In late May 2026 the Scary Movie team launched subservientghostface.com, a site where you type a command and a masked figure acts it out. Nerdist reported on 8 June 2026 that a real person in a costume plays the figure, so it is not AI. It does not use your photo.
Is my photo safe?+
Your result goes to your Library, not to a public feed. MakeViral does not post it anywhere, and you can delete it from your Library at any time. Use your own photo, or the photo of an adult who agreed, and never someone else's face without asking them.
Does the Ghostface AI trend cost credits?+
Yes. The photo costs a few credits, and the photo plus video costs more, because the video model is the expensive part. The create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything, and if a run fails, the credits come back.
How long does it take?+
The photo usually takes a minute or two, a little longer when many people make one at the same time. The photo plus video takes a few minutes: first the photo, then the clip. You can leave the page while it runs, and the result waits in your Library.
Why does my Ghostface photo not look like me?+
The model rebuilds your face from one photo, so a dark, blurry or side-on selfie leaves it guessing. A sharp, front-facing photo in daylight helps most. Every run is different, so a second run can come out closer. Sunglasses, hats and heavy filters also make it harder.
Can I post my Ghostface AI photo on TikTok or Instagram?+
Yes. The file has no watermark, so you can post it as it is, as a photo, a slideshow or a video. Keep the platform's AI label on, and use tags like #ghostface and #ghostfaceaitrend.
