What is an AI pet Halloween costume?+
It is a photo of your own dog or cat in a Halloween costume, made by AI from a normal photo of your pet. The AI keeps the breed, face, eyes, fur and markings and adds the costume, so you can see the look before you buy one, or post the photo without a costume at all.
How do I put my dog in a Halloween costume with AI?+
Press "Create your own", add one full-body photo of your dog, then type a costume in Make it yours or tap a quick pick such as Pumpkin, Hot dog or Ghost. Press Generate. Nano Banana 2 makes a 2K photo of your dog in the costume on a Halloween porch, usually in one to three minutes.
Does it work with cats?+
Yes. The prompt says "the pet" and "the animal", not "the dog", and keeps the species from your photo. Our video example is an AI-made tabby cat in a witch hat and cape. It is written for other pets too, if the whole body is in the photo, but we tested only a dog and a cat.
What are the most popular pet Halloween costumes in 2026?+
In the NRF's 2026 survey, published on 22 September 2026, the top pet costumes are a pumpkin (11.6% of pet costume buyers), a hot dog (5.9%) and a ghost (2.8%). All three are quick picks on this page, and the pumpkin is the default.
Can I type any costume?+
Yes, up to 60 characters, such as "taco", "astronaut" or "sheep". The prompt makes a cute, well-fitted pet version with no logos or brand marks. Film and comic characters come out as generic look-alike costumes.
Can my dog and I wear matching costumes?+
Yes. Pick "You and your pet" and add two photos: yours first, then your pet's. Leave it empty for matching witches, or pick Vampires, Skeletons, Pumpkins, Pirates or "Ketchup and hot dog". In a pair, you wear the first part and your pet the second.
Can I make a video of my pet in costume?+
Yes. Pick "Photo + video". You get the costume photo and a 6-second vertical video with sound: your pet tilts its head, trots to the camera and barks or meows on a Halloween porch.
Which AI models does it use?+
The photos use Nano Banana 2 at 2K. The video uses Nano Banana 2 for the first frame, then Seedance 2.0 Mini at 720p for 6 seconds, the default (Standard) option. The Best option uses Seedance 2.5. We picked Mini after it made 5 good clips in 5 runs on this page and the costume try-on page; Veo 3.1 Lite failed 4 of 5 runs with a server error on our test day.
Will the costume in the photo fit my real pet?+
The photo shows the look, not the size. Measure your pet's neck, chest and back length and use the store's size chart before you order.
Does it cost credits?+
Yes. A photo costs a few credits and the video costs more; the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. If a run fails, the credits come back.
Why does my pet look different in the costume?+
The model rebuilds your pet from one photo. A dark, blurry or cropped photo leaves it guessing about the fur and the markings. Use a sharp full-body photo in daylight and run it again; each run is different.
Can I post it on Instagram or TikTok?+
Yes. There is no watermark, and the video has original sound, so it is clean to post. Keep the platform's AI label on.
Can I see myself in a costume too?+
Yes, on its own page: the [AI Halloween costume try-on](/templates/ai-halloween-costume) dresses you, or you and a partner, in any costume you type, and can make a costume reveal video.
