An iMessage video generator turns a written conversation into a video that looks like someone filmed their own phone screen. The whole frame is the phone. You see the contact name and avatar at the top, the thread in the middle, and the keyboard at the bottom.

The video plays in real time. The outgoing message types itself letter by letter in the input field, with key tap sounds. It sends with the iOS chime. Then the three dots appear on the other side, hold for a beat, and the reply drops in with its own chime. A read receipt sits under the last message you sent.

That pacing is the product. A screenshot of a conversation gives away the whole story at once. A typed conversation releases it one line at a time, and the pause while the other person is "typing" is where the tension lives.

The format runs 15 to 30 seconds and carries no voiceover. It is built to be read in silence, which is how most short-form video is actually watched.

1. Describe the conversation. One line is enough: "my neighbor texts me about a package that was never delivered, and it gets strange." A product URL works too.
2. Steer it with a short prompt. An optional box of up to 500 characters takes direction like "make it horror", "keep it to 12 messages" or "end on a read receipt". It is direction, not a script: the AI writes every message.
3. The AI writes the thread. Contact name, the message list marked by speaker, and the prompts for the images. If the draft is flat, regenerate: each run is a new conversation.
4. Faces and photos are generated. The contact avatar is AI-generated, and so is any photo shared inside the thread, so nothing in the video belongs to a real person.
5. The screen is animated. Outgoing messages are typed character by character on the on-screen keyboard. Incoming ones get the typing indicator first. Sends and receives use the iOS chimes, and a read receipt sits under the last sent message.
6. Download the 9:16 file. Watermark-free and sized for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

One video costs 10 credits and a bulk run queues up to 10 per format and 50 per run, so 500 credits is about 50 videos. The format is fast enough that generating 10 and keeping 3 is a normal working session.

Viewers have spent years looking at this interface. They notice the details before they notice the story. Nine things separate a convincing thread from an obvious mock-up.

• Uneven message lengths. Real threads alternate long and short. Four equal paragraphs look scripted.
• A typing pause that is too long. Fifteen seconds of dots before a two-word answer is the most human thing in the format.
• Lowercase and typos. "im outside" beats "I'm outside." One uncorrected typo buys more belief than perfect grammar ever will.
• Double and triple texting. People send three short messages instead of one composed one, especially when upset.
• Read, then nothing. The read receipt with no reply under it is the cheapest suspense in short form.
• Reactions instead of words. A thumbs up on a serious message says more than a sentence.
• Timestamps that make sense. A 2:47am conversation reads differently from the same words at 2:47pm.
• A photo that is not a stock photo. The shared image should look like something a person actually sent.
• An ending mid-thread. Real conversations do not conclude. Stop on the message that hurts.

The generator handles the interface, the typing and the chimes. These are the things to ask for in your prompt, and to check before you post.

Fourteen messages, one turn. That is the whole shape.

Three writing rules

Start after the greeting. "hey" and "you up?" are wasted seconds. Open on "why is your car outside my house".

Make the reader work once. One thing should be unexplained. If the viewer has to reread message four after message twelve, they will watch it twice, and rewatches are the strongest signal a short video can send.

Cut the last two messages of the draft. Almost every version explains its own ending. The one that stops earlier is better. If the generated thread over-explains, prompt for a harder stop and run it again.

1. The read receipt. A long apology, marked read, no reply. Then three dots, then nothing.
2. The wrong contact. A message meant for someone else, and the sender realizing it in real time.
3. The house sitter. Photo updates from inside your home, with something different in each picture.
4. The delivery. A driver sends a photo of the parcel at a door that is not yours.
5. The old number. Someone texts a number they used to have, and the new owner knows them.
6. The 3am confession. A friend types, deletes, types again, and finally sends one line.
7. The group project. Four hours before the deadline, one person still has not opened the file.
8. The neighbor's cat. Polite messages about an animal that keeps appearing in a locked house.
9. The reunion. An ex sends a wedding invitation and asks a question in the next message.
10. The subscription. A friend explains, in four messages, what they replaced with one app.

Use the last one only when you have something real to recommend. A promotional thread that pretends to be a confession burns the account faster than it sells anything.

Fictional conversations between invented people are ordinary storytelling, and this format has been in feeds for years. The risk is not the format, it is what you put inside it. This is practical guidance, not legal advice.

• Invent every participant. No real names, real phone numbers, real handles or real photos, even of people you know, even as a joke.
• Do not put words in a real company's mouth. A thread that shows a named brand admitting to something it never said is a different problem from fiction.
• Do not present it as evidence. A fake thread posted as proof of a real event is deception, whatever the caption says.
• Do not imply Apple made it. The format imitates the iOS interface. Your account is yours, not Apple's, and nothing about the video should suggest otherwise.
• Label AI content where the platform asks. TikTok requires creators to disclose realistic AI-generated content and applies labels automatically to some uploads (TikTok on AI content labels, checked September 2026).

Keep the people fictional and the claims fictional, and this format stays exactly what it looks like: a short story told in an interface everyone recognizes.

A 25-second thread will never qualify for Creator Rewards, which needs more than a minute. That is fine: use this format for follower growth and saves, and run longer Reddit story videos on the same account for the payable views. Reported Shorts RPM sits at roughly $0.01 to $0.05 per 1,000 views for most channels (Mediacube, checked September 2026), so treat ad money as the floor and the audience as the asset. • Starting with small talk. The first bubble is your thumbnail. Make it the strangest line in the thread.
• Messages that are too long. Two lines on a phone is the ceiling. Split anything longer.
• No pause anywhere. If every reply is instant, there is no tension. Let one answer take its time.
• Explaining the twist. Stop on the reaction and let the comments do the explaining.
• Perfect spelling throughout. It is the single clearest sign the thread was written, not sent.
• Real identities. Names, numbers, handles and photos of real people do not belong in a fictional thread.
• Fifty identical uploads. YouTube's monetization policies require content that is not "mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative" (channel monetization policies, checked September 2026).
• Ignoring the safe zone. Keep the final messages out of the bottom quarter, where the platform's own buttons sit.
