FAQ

UGC ad questions

What is a UGC ad?
A UGC ad is a paid advertisement shot to look like a normal creator post: one person, a phone camera, natural light, talking to the lens. The format works because it does not announce itself as an ad in the first second, which is when most people scroll past a polished brand video.
Does a UGC ad have to use a real creator?
No. A generated creator reads the same script to camera and costs a fraction of a licensed creator shoot. The trade-off is that you cannot claim the person used the product, because they did not. Write the script as a pitch, not as a testimonial, and keep any claim to what the product does.
How long should a UGC ad be?
Fifteen to thirty seconds for a cold audience. The hook takes the first three seconds, the product has to appear by second seven, and the call to action lands in the last three. Longer than thirty seconds only works when the product needs a demonstration.
How many UGC ad variations should I test?
Start with one script and three hooks, then keep the hook that holds attention past three seconds and vary the body. Changing the first line is the cheapest test in paid social, because everything after it stays the same.
Do I have to disclose that the creator is AI generated?
Platform rules on synthetic media change, and advertising standards in your market may require a disclosure when a person appears to endorse a product. Check the current rules for the platform you are buying on before you run the ad, and keep testimonial language out of a script read by a generated person.
