The recipe

What every viral pov video does

The hook, first 2 seconds

Put the viewer in one exact time and place: "POV: you wake up in London, September 2nd, 1666."

  1. 1The "POV:" line on screen, with the year and the place.
  2. 2You wake up: one sense detail first (the smell of smoke, a cold stone floor).
  3. 3You walk out into a normal day of that time.
  4. 4You meet the people: the baker, the guard, the doctor.
  5. 5The danger arrives, and you decide what to do.
  6. 6The screen goes black on one last sound or word. Part 2 follows.
Length
45 to 60 seconds. The six top TikTok posts run 15 to 63 seconds, 53 seconds in the middle.
Voice
Second person, present tense: "You open the door. The street smells of smoke."
Look
Cinematic: a real film look of the time and the place, slow camera moves, the same hero in every scene.
Text
Short white story lines with a black outline. The top post has almost no voice, the lines carry it.
Sound
A dark drone under real sounds of the place: footsteps in mud, a bell, coughing.
Ending
A cliffhanger. The top post fades to black on one word from a child.

MakeViral writes to this recipe by default. You can change the length, look, voice, captions and music before you make the video.

Before and after

How creators make it by hand, and how you make it here

By hand

  1. Claude or ChatGPT: research the time and place, then write six short scenes and the on-screen lines.
  2. An AI image model: make a first-person picture of each scene in one period look, and fix the hands and faces that come out wrong.
  3. An AI video model: turn each picture into a slow, floating 5 to 8 second shot, one shot at a time.
  4. A sold course: the creator of the most viewed POV post writes "Want to create these videos yourself? Check out the link in my bio!" source
  5. CapCut: put the shots in order, add the story lines, the drone, the footsteps and the bells, then export 9:16.

On MakeViral about 3 to 6 minutes

  1. Type one line, or paste your own story (up to 800 words).
  2. The AI writes the script to the pov recipe and checks the facts.
  3. Every scene is drawn in one look with the same characters, then animated.
  4. Voice-over in 29 languages, captions, music and sound effects are added.
  5. Change any line or scene, then download a 9:16 MP4 with no watermark.

What is a POV video?

POV means "point of view". In a POV video the camera is your eyes, and the story happens to you: "POV: you wake up as a pyramid builder." There is no host and no face on screen. You see your own hands, the room you wake up in, the street outside and the people who talk to you.

The history POV is the biggest kind. It takes one real time and place and shows a normal day there, until the danger comes: the plague, the fire, the flood. A short line on screen tells you the year and the place, so the viewer knows where they are in one second.

Why does it hook? Because the viewer asks "what would I do?" from the first shot. A history lesson feels far away. Waking up in it feels personal, and the cliffhanger at the end makes people wait for Part 2.

The POV wave in numbers

The format exploded in February 2025. In two weeks, four accounts posted the videos that still lead the niche (all counts read November 2, 2026):

Today @histairy_films is the biggest POV account we found, with 934,406 followers. On YouTube, Hypothetically has 343,000 subscribers and its long "POV: You're a Trillionaire" has 3.1 million views. Some early accounts stopped: @the_pov_lab has not posted since March 28, 2025. That leaves room for new channels. On Google, "ai pov" gets 260 searches a month in the US, and so does the question "what is a pov video".

How to make a POV video with AI

  1. Pick one exact time and place. "London, 1666" works better than "the past". A real event gives you the danger.
  2. Open on the "POV:" line. Year and place on screen in the first second.
  3. Start small. You wake up. One smell, one sound, one thing you touch.
  4. Show a normal day. The street, the work, the food, the people of that time.
  5. Bring the danger. The fire, the flood, the soldiers. You must decide what to do.
  6. Stop at the worst moment. Fade to black and leave Part 2 open.

On MakeViral, you type the time and place, for example "POV: you wake up in London in 1666". The writer builds the scenes in this order, in second person, and a fact check reads the date, the place and the daily life details. Every scene is drawn in the Cinematic look with the same hero, a narrator reads it, and captions and music are added. You can change any line before it renders. It takes about 3 to 6 minutes. When the video is done, the Part 2 button picks up where it ends, with the same characters, look and voice.

How do creators make POV videos by hand?

Most POV accounts do not say how they work. The creator of the most viewed post we found, the black plague POV, sells the method: the caption says "Want to create these videos yourself? Check out the link in my bio!" The tools are not named.

A hand-made POV video usually takes these steps:

  • Research the period and write six short scenes and the lines on screen.
  • Make one first-person picture per scene with an image model, and keep the clothes, the light and the period the same in all of them.
  • Turn each picture into a short moving shot with a video model, one shot at a time, and throw away the ones with melted hands.
  • Add the drone, the footsteps, the bells and the text in an editor like CapCut.

Each of those steps is its own tool and its own bill. MakeViral does the script, the pictures, the motion, the voice, the captions and the music from one typed line.

What a POV video costs, and how true it is

A 60-second POV video costs 132 credits on MakeViral with the format's default motion. A 30-second one costs 75 credits. Credits come with a monthly plan, or as a $9.99 one-time pack of 100 credits. There is no watermark on the MP4.

The story is told to "you", but the world around you should be real. MakeViral's writer uses real history: the date, the place, the events and the details of daily life go through a fact check before you see the script. The hero has no name, so you never put words in the mouth of a real person. You still read the script before it renders, so check any detail you care about.

The voice works in 29 languages. One POV can go out in English, Spanish and Turkish on the same day, and history topics travel well, because every country has its own past to wake up in.

Getting paid

Can pov videos make money?

  • YouTube pays creators who reach 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million public Shorts views in 90 days. source
  • Monetizing creators keep 45% of their share of Shorts ad revenue. source
  • YouTube does not pay for "AI-generated content made with generic or unoriginal templates". A POV story with your own time, place and real history is original work. source
  • TikTok Creator Rewards pays only for original videos longer than one minute, so make your POV video 60 seconds or more for TikTok. source
FAQ

POV video questions

What is a POV video?
A POV (point of view) video shows a story through your own eyes. The viewer is the hero: "POV: you wake up in Pompeii the morning Vesuvius erupts." You see your hands, the room, the street and the people, and the story happens to you. The history POV is the most viewed kind on TikTok, with single posts above 40 million views.
What does POV mean in a video?
POV means "point of view". In a video it says that the camera is you. "POV: you are a knight on the morning of a battle" means everything you see next is what the knight sees. On TikTok and Reels, the word also starts a caption that puts the viewer in a situation.
How do you make a POV video?
Pick one exact time and place, open with the "POV:" line, start with a small sense detail, show a normal day, bring the danger and stop at the worst moment. On MakeViral you type the time and place, and the AI writes, draws, narrates and edits it in about 3 to 6 minutes.
What is a POV AI video generator?
It is a tool that turns one line, like "POV: you wake up in London in 1666", into a short video of that moment. MakeViral writes the scenes in second person, draws them in the Cinematic look, adds a narrator, captions and music, and gives you a 60-second 9:16 MP4 with no watermark.
Is the history in the video real?
It should be, and MakeViral checks it. The writer uses real history for the date, the place, the events and the daily life of the time, and a fact check pass reads the script before you see it. The hero is you, with no name. You can edit any line before the video renders.
How long should a POV video be?
The top TikTok POV posts run 15 to 63 seconds, with 53 seconds in the middle. For TikTok Creator Rewards, make it longer than one minute. MakeViral's POV format starts at 60 seconds, and you can pick 30 or 90 before you make it.
Can I make a Part 2?
Yes. A POV video ends on a cliffhanger. When it is done, press the Part 2 button. The next part picks up where the first one stops, with the same characters, the same look and the same voice, so the series feels like one story.
Does the video have a voice?
Yes. One narrator reads the story in second person, and captions show the words. The voice works in 29 languages. You can also turn the captions off or change the voice, the music and the look before you make the video.
