A faceless video is a short vertical video with no presenter on camera: an AI voiceover, burned-in captions and a background clip carry the story instead. A faceless video generator writes, narrates and renders it for you. Give MakeViral a prompt, a script or a product URL and download a 9:16 file.

What is a faceless video?

A faceless video is a short video that shows no presenter. Four parts do the work instead:

  • A script that opens with a hook and keeps one idea per line.
  • A voice, usually a synthetic narrator, reading it out loud.
  • Captions burned into the frame and timed to the voice, so the video lands on mute.
  • A visual layer that holds the eye: gameplay, stock footage, a chat interface or a photo reveal.

Nothing on that list needs a camera, a microphone, a light or a quiet room. That is the whole appeal. One person can publish every day, and the channel is not tied to one face, so it can be handed to a freelancer or sold later.

Faceless is not the same as anonymous: you can put your real name in the channel description and still never appear in a frame. Most of the highest-volume short-form niches already work this way, from story videos to quiz videos to gameplay-background videos.

Why do faceless channels work in 2026?

Two things line up. The platforms pay for short vertical video on published terms, and the cost of making one video fell to minutes.

YouTube pays Shorts through the Partner Program

Checked on the YouTube Help pages on September 15, 2026:

TierWhat you needWhat it unlocks
Earlier access500 subscribers, 3 valid public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified watch hours in 12 months or 3 million qualified Shorts views in 90 daysFan funding: channel memberships, Super Thanks, Shopping
Ad revenue1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified watch hours in 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in 90 daysAd revenue share and YouTube Premium revenue

Sources: Overview of the expanded YouTube Partner Program and the YPP overview. Shorts pay out of a pool, and YouTube states that "monetizing creators will keep 45% of their allocated revenue, regardless if music was used or not" (Shorts monetization).

TikTok pays for videos over one minute

The Creator Rewards Program asks for 10,000 followers, 100,000 video views in the last 30 days, age 18 or over and a personal account in good standing in a supported country. A video earns only if it is original, longer than one minute and clears a qualified-view bar. Checked on TikTok's Creator Rewards Program pages, September 15, 2026.

Read both sets of thresholds again and notice what is missing: neither asks who is on camera. They are view counts and upload counts, which is exactly what one person with a template can move.

What changes on February 1, 2027

Two dated changes are already published, and the first reshapes faceless Shorts economics.

The Shorts ad share stops being a one-time unlock and becomes a monthly test. YouTube states: "Starting February 1, 2027, to be eligible to earn a share of Shorts ad revenue from the Creator Pool and YouTube Premium revenue for each month, you will need to have at least 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days." The count is measured over the 90 days ending on the 15th of the month before the month being paid. Plainly: from February 2027 you need 10 million qualified Shorts views every rolling 90 days to keep earning Shorts ad revenue. A channel that hits the threshold once and then slows down stops earning.

From the same date, Shorts ads targeted at small groups of five channels or fewer pay out directly: "creators will keep 45% of the net revenue from the specific ad," on top of the Creator Pool.

There is also paperwork. "Starting February 1, 2027, we are introducing updates to the YouTube Partner Program (YPP)," and you must "review and accept the updated terms in YouTube Studio by January 31, 2027" to keep fully monetizing. All three quotes checked on the Shorts monetization page and the YPP overview on September 15, 2026.

The caveat that cuts the other way

On July 15, 2025 YouTube renamed its repetitious content policy to inauthentic content. It does not monetize "AI-generated content made with generic or unoriginal templates giving the impression of mass production without adding the creator's original, authentic insights or perspective" (channel monetization policies, checked September 15, 2026). Volume with no point of view is the failure mode. Pick a niche you can have an opinion inside.

How does MakeViral make a faceless video?

You hand it one of three inputs and it returns a finished vertical file.

Input. A product URL, a script you already wrote, or a prompt in plain English. Given a URL, MakeViral reads the page for its copy and images, so an ecommerce listing becomes a video without you writing a word. See the URL to video generator and script to video.

Output. One 9:16 file with:

  • an AI script built around a hook in the first second
  • an AI voiceover in over 70 languages (add "in Spanish" to the prompt and the pacing follows)
  • captions burned in and timed to the voice
  • a background layer chosen to suit the format

Eight formats. Every generator on this page is one of eight visual templates. The format decides the pacing, the on-screen furniture and the caption style, so it is the one choice that matters most. The grid above links each one.

Bulk. Queue up to 10 variations of one idea in a single pass: write one idea, get ten hooks, post the one that tests best and bank the rest.

No editing software. It runs in the browser: no timeline, no keyframes, no render queue on your machine.

Each video costs a minimum of 10 credits, so the $49.99 per month Starter plan is roughly 50 videos and the $199.99 per month Pro plan is roughly 300. See pricing before you budget a schedule.

Which faceless format fits your niche?

Pick the format the niche already rewards, not the one that looks newest.

NicheFormatWhy it fits
Relationship and revenge storytimeReddit story videosA post read aloud over gameplay holds watch time to the last line

Facts, finance, how-to, motivationAI voiceover videosYour script, narrated, with something under it so the eye stays busy
Gaming and brainrot audiencesBrainrot videosSplit-screen gameplay is the native look of that part of the feed

If you think in surfaces rather than niches, start from the AI TikTok video generator, the AI Shorts generator or the YouTube automation tool. The export is the same 9:16 file either way: the surface changes your hook and your posting time, not your render.

How do you start a faceless channel in 7 days?

Seven days gets a channel posting on a schedule. It does not get you paid.

  1. Day 1: pick one niche and one format. Not three. Use the table above and write the channel in one sentence, like "Reddit relationship stories for people who scroll at midnight."
  2. Day 2: make 10 videos. Bulk-generate variations of one idea, watch them back on mute and delete the ones where the caption timing feels wrong. Ten tell you whether the format is repeatable.
  3. Day 3: set up the accounts. One TikTok, one YouTube channel, one Instagram, same handle and avatar. Fill in the YouTube channel description: that is what a viewer reads after tapping your name.
  4. Day 4: post three and read the retention graph. On Shorts, find where the line drops. On TikTok, read the watch-time percentage. A drop inside two seconds means the hook is wrong, not the topic.
  5. Day 5: rewrite the hook only. Keep the story, change the first line, regenerate. The hook is the cheapest variable in short video and the highest leverage.
  6. Day 6: build a queue of 21 videos. Three a day for a week, so one bad day cannot break the streak.
  7. Day 7: fix the posting times and stop deciding. Same slots every day. From here the job is publish, read retention, swap hooks, repeat.

Read two things before day 1: the faceless YouTube channel guide for channel setup, and YouTube automation explained for what the model pays and where it breaks. For US viewers on TikTok from outside the US, the US TikTok audience guide, the TikTok account warm-up guide and the Outline VPN on AWS setup cover the setup.

How do faceless channels make money?

There are six paths, and they do not pay in the order people expect.

PathWhat it needsWhat it pays
YouTube Shorts ad share1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days, or 4,000 watch hours in 12 months. From February 1, 2027 the 10 million qualified Shorts views must be there every rolling 90 days to earn in a given month45% of your allocated Shorts pool revenue. Independent creator reports put Shorts RPM at roughly $0.03 to $0.10 per 1,000 views, higher in US finance and tech
YouTube fan funding500 subscribers, 3 uploads in 90 days, plus 3,000 watch hours or 3 million Shorts viewsMemberships, Super Thanks and Shopping. No ad share at this tier
TikTok Creator Rewards10,000 followers, 100,000 views in 30 days, videos over one minuteTikTok publishes no rate. Creator-reported figures cluster around roughly $0.40 to $1.00 per 1,000 qualified views
Affiliate linksNothing. It works from video oneA commission per sale, so one good video can out-earn a month of RPM
Your own product or appSomething to sellThe highest margin of the six, and no subscriber threshold in the way
Channels for clientsA process you can repeatA monthly retainer per channel

Read that table top to bottom, then act bottom to top. The platform programs are the slowest and least controllable: at roughly $0.05 per 1,000 Shorts views, a million views in a month is tens of dollars, not a salary. Affiliate links and your own product pay from video one and ignore every follower threshold, which is why most faceless operators earning real money are selling something rather than collecting RPM.

The platform requirements come from the expanded YPP page, the Shorts revenue share page and TikTok's Creator Rewards Program, checked September 15, 2026. The RPM ranges are creator-reported, not platform figures, so treat them as an order of magnitude.

What MakeViral does not do

MakeViral makes the file. It does not run the channel, and that is worth knowing before you pay.

  • No uploading, scheduling or auto-posting. No connected TikTok or YouTube account, no calendar. You download the video and post it, or drop it into the scheduler you already use.
  • No clipping of long videos. You cannot feed it a 40-minute podcast and get highlights back. That is a different category of tool.
  • No long-form output. Everything renders 9:16 and short: no 16:9, no 10-minute video.
  • No API and no integrations. Everything happens in the browser, by hand.
  • No analytics. Retention and view data stay in TikTok and YouTube Studio.
  • No free plan. New accounts start with zero credits, so the first video needs a plan. You can cancel any time, with a 14-day refund window on unused credits.

If the missing piece is scheduling or clipping, decide that before you subscribe. The alternatives comparisons list what each competing tool does, with its price and the date we checked it.

What you get

One tool, the whole pipeline

Eight faceless formats, one editor

Story, chat, quiz, dilemma, meme, photo reveal and narrated formats share one editor, so switching format costs a click.

Voiceover and captions included

An AI voice reads the script and the captions are burned in and timed to it, so the video lands for viewers who scroll on mute.

Over 70 languages

Add "in German" to the prompt and the script, the voiceover and the caption pacing follow that language.

Start from a URL, a script or a prompt

Paste a product link and MakeViral reads the page for images and copy. Paste your own script and it narrates that instead.

Ten variations per pass

Bulk generation queues up to 10 takes on one idea, so a week of posts gets built in an hour.

How it works

From idea to posted video

  1. Pick a format

Choose the generator that matches your niche. The format sets the pacing and the caption style.

  2. Give it a prompt, a script or a URL

MakeViral writes the script, reads it in an AI voice, times the captions and lays in the background.

  3. Download and post

You get a 9:16 file ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. Posting is yours to do.

FAQ

Faceless video questions

Is faceless content still monetizable in 2026?
Yes. Both major programs are view-based and neither requires a face. YouTube needs 1,000 subscribers plus 10 million qualified Shorts views in 90 days for ad revenue, and from February 1, 2027 that 10 million must hold every rolling 90 days. TikTok Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers plus 100,000 views in 30 days. The risk is YouTube's inauthentic content policy, which demonetizes templated mass production. Checked September 15, 2026.
Does YouTube allow AI voiceovers?
Yes. YouTube's channel monetization policies explicitly allow creative tools that help deliver a unique narrative, including AI used on scripts and visuals. What is not monetized is generic templated output with no insight of your own. So an AI narrator is fine, and a hundred near-identical videos are not. Checked September 15, 2026.
Do I have to disclose that a video is AI generated?
On YouTube you disclose realistic altered or synthetic content that could mislead, such as a real person appearing to say something they did not. The exempt list includes production assistance like script generation and captions, cloning your own voice for voiceover, and gameplay footage. Checked on YouTube's altered or synthetic content disclosure page, September 15, 2026.
How many faceless videos should I post a day?
One to three per platform per day is the usual band, and consistency beats volume. Credits set the ceiling: at a minimum of 10 credits per video, the 500-credit plan is roughly 50 videos a month, or one to two a day, and the 3,000-credit plan is roughly 300 videos, or about 10 a day.
Can I post the same faceless video to TikTok, Reels and Shorts?
Yes. The export is one 9:16 file with no watermark, and all three surfaces take that aspect ratio. Change the hook line and the posting time per platform rather than the render. Reuse the file, not the caption.
What does a faceless video generator cost?
MakeViral is $49.99 per month for 500 credits and $199.99 per month for 3,000 credits, with a minimum of 10 credits per video, checked on the pricing page on September 15, 2026. There is no free plan: new accounts start with zero credits. You can cancel any time, with a 14-day refund window on unused credits.
Which faceless format is best for a beginner?
Reddit story videos. The story is already written, the format is proven on watch time, and the only thing you control is the hook, so you learn fast. If you want to write your own copy from day one, use the AI voiceover format instead and put gameplay behind it.
Does MakeViral post the videos for me?
No. There is no uploading, no scheduling and no auto-posting, and no connected social accounts. MakeViral generates the video and you download it and post it, or load it into the scheduler you already use. It also does not clip long videos into shorts.
