The subway outfit change is the fashion clip filmed across the tracks: you wait on the platform looking at your phone, a train rushes past and hides you for a second, and when it is gone you stand there in a new outfit. Real creators need four outfits and four trains. Here you need one photo.

How to make the Subway Outfits video on MakeViral

Everything runs in the browser. No editing app, no prompt to write, no watermark.

  1. Add your photo

Press "Create your own" and add you, face clear. Take it with the camera or pick it from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button shows the price. Genjutsu Motion puts your photos into the Subway outfits trend clip and copies it shot by shot for 13 seconds, with the reel's original song. You write no prompt.

  3. Download or share

The video is ready in a few minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share it from your phone, or find it later in your Library.

Which photo works best?

Use one sharp photo with your face clear and big enough to see well, from the waist up or closer. The video shows you full length across the tracks, so your face is small in the frame. A clear, front-facing face keeps you looking like you in every outfit.

  • The four outfits come from the reel or from your own words, never from your photo. MakeViral first makes a close portrait from your photo, so only your face and hair go into the video.
  • Face visible: no sunglasses, no hat, no heavy filter.
  • Daylight or a bright room. Any background works; the video sets the platform.
  • One person per photo.
  • Use your own photo, or one of an adult who said yes. Never a celebrity or a stranger.

Where did the Subway Outfits trend start?

Subway fits are an old TikTok genre. In November 2023 Refinery29 called them "the new street style" and counted over 13 billion views in TikTok's search results for "subway fit". Transitions came with them: a passing train or a pillar hides the cut, and the creator comes back somewhere else or in something else. On 1 December 2024 @farbfilms used a subway pillar to jump from the platform to Times Square ("POV: You've finally been to New York, and now it's time for this one transition", 42,500 plays). On 12 September 2025 @joewoahy's "pov: you tried the subway trend", a still pose while a train rushes by behind him, passed 1.3 million plays.

The AI version is new. On 15 October 2026 the creator Diana Qeblawi (@dianaqeblawiofficial) posted "Outfit changes between trains. Which one are you wearing?": four looks on a white-tiled platform, one per passing train. MakeViral's template copies that reel. The tags are still small: on 16 October 2026 #subwayoutfit had 80 videos and #traintransition 93.

How many credits does it cost?

You pay per video in credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. The one-tap price covers the video, made in one step from your photos and the trend clip, charged once. One video is 168 credits, so the smallest one-time pack that covers it is $39.99 for 450 credits, with no subscription. The cheaper models are there if you run the prompts by hand in AI Video.

How does the subway outfit change work?

The train is the edit. The camera stands still on the far side of the tracks and films you full length on the platform. You stand calmly and scroll your phone. Then a silver train rushes through the frame between you and the camera, and for a second or two you are hidden behind its doors and windows. That is where the cut hides: when the last car is gone, you are back in the same spot in a new outfit.

Our template copies Diana Qeblawi's reel from 15 October 2026: 13 seconds, four looks and three trains. First Nano Banana 2 makes a close portrait from your photo, so only your face and hair go into the reel. Then Higgsfield Genjutsu puts you in place of the woman in the reel, shot by shot, so every train passes and every outfit changes exactly where it does in the original. Your face, hair and skin tone come from your photo. The outfits, the white-tiled platform and the trains come from the reel.

With Your outfits you write your own look for any of the four. MakeViral first changes those looks in the reel itself (FLUX.3 Edit Video), so the new outfits still appear behind the trains, and then puts you in. It is an NYC subway lookbook in 13 seconds, without the trip, the trains or the four changes of clothes.

Which looks are in the video, and can you write your own?

The reel's four looks, in order:

  1. A black halter jumpsuit with flared legs and white sneakers.
  2. A black turtleneck, a grey pleated mini skirt, sheer black tights and black heels.
  3. A burgundy leather jacket with matching leather shorts, a burgundy handbag and pointed heels.
  4. A black blazer over a white crop top, with black wide trousers.

The model redraws the clothes on your body, so small details can change from run to run. The cut and the colors of each look stay close to the reel.

Your outfits: on the create page, open Your outfits and write any look you want, for example "Denim jacket and jeans" for outfit 1 or "Red dress with red high heels" for outfit 3. Name the clothes, the colors, the shoes and the bag. Every look you leave empty stays as in the reel, so you can change one look or all four and try your own subway style before you wear it. A written look costs a few credits more, because MakeViral first changes the outfits in the reel itself. Logos, brand names and copies of famous characters are left out.

Each of the reel's looks is a subway outfit for women. A man can write four looks of his own, but the body and the pose stay the reel's, so the result fits women's styling best.

Which sound should you post it with?

There is no one song for the subway trend. The reel we copy uses an original sound, @joewoahy's subway clip used a mashup sound, and train transition reels use whatever is trending that week.

Your video comes with the original sound of the reel it copies, so it is ready to post. You can turn the sound off on the result screen. The sound belongs to its owners, and MakeViral gives you no rights to it.

To use a trending sound, add it in TikTok, Instagram or YouTube when you post, from their licensed library, and lower the original sound. Hashtags: #subwayoutfit and #traintransition are the tags of the trend, and #subwaystyle and #outfittransition reach a wider fashion audience.

What can go wrong, and how do you fix it?

This version is new, and we have not run it with test photos yet. It uses the same setup as our ceiling fan template, which kept the person the same in all four looks in our tests. These are the problems to look out for:

FAQ

Subway Outfits trend questions

What is the subway outfit change?
It is a fashion clip with an outfit change when the train passes: you stand on a subway platform and look at your phone while a train rushes past between you and the camera, and each time it clears, you wear a new outfit. People also call it the subway outfit transition, the subway transition, the train transition or "every train, a new outfit".
How do I make the subway outfit change with AI?
Press "Create your own" on this page, add one photo with your face clear and press Generate. MakeViral puts you into a subway outfit reel, so every passing train brings a new look. You write no prompt, and the ai subway video lands in your Library as a vertical MP4. To pick your own looks, open Your outfits first.
What is the subway trend on TikTok?
The subway trend on TikTok is a still pose on a subway platform while a train rushes by, as in @joewoahy's "pov: you tried the subway trend" (1.3 million plays). The subway outfit change adds a new outfit after every train. It builds on the subway fit check, where creators film their everyday outfit on the platform.
How do you film a train transition for real?
Stand on one platform and put the phone on a stand on the opposite platform, pointing at you, never on the platform edge. Film one take per outfit in the same spot, then cut the takes together in an editor on the frames where a passing train covers you. It takes many takes and many trains, which is why most people use AI for train transition reels.
Can I choose the outfits?
Yes. Open Your outfits on the create page and write your own look for any of the four, for example "Black leather jacket and boots". A look you leave empty stays as in the reel. MakeViral changes those looks in the reel first, so each new outfit still appears behind a passing train.
What subway outfit works best for the video?
Looks that contrast hard: a sleek jumpsuit, a short skirt with tights, a leather set, a sharp suit. A train transition outfit reads best when the color and the shape change at every train. The reel's four looks are a good start for NYC subway fashion, and you can write any NYC subway outfit you saw into Your outfits.
Does it show a real subway line?
No. The video shows a generic white-tiled platform with a yellow edge strip and silver trains in motion blur, with no readable line names, station signs or transit logos.
How long is the video?
13 seconds, vertical 9:16 at 480p, with the reel's original sound: four looks and three trains. It takes a few minutes, and you can leave the page while it runs: the finished clip waits in your Library.
Does the subway outfit video cost credits?
Yes. Each video costs credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. Your own outfits cost a few credits more, because the reel is changed first. If a video fails, the credits come back.
Can I post my subway outfit video on TikTok or Instagram?
Yes. The MP4 has no watermark, so you can post it to TikTok, Reels or Shorts as it is. The reel's sound belongs to its owners: check the platform's music rules before you use the clip in an ad. Keep the platform's AI label on, and tag it #subwayoutfit or #traintransition.
