Reddit Story Video Generator

A Reddit story video is a vertical clip that reads one written story out loud while something visually simple plays behind it. It opens on a dark Reddit-style post card with the community name and the title. A voice reads the title, the card disappears, and the story runs as captions over gameplay footage until the payoff.

The stories come from advice and confession communities: moral arguments, betrayals, workplace revenge, family secrets. It is a short story with a hook, an escalation and a resolution, delivered in 45 to 90 seconds.

Why the format still retains

The format borrows attention from three places at once.

• The title is an open question. "AITA for telling my sister the truth at her wedding?" cannot be resolved without watching.
• The voice never pauses. Read at a raised pace with no silence between sentences, the audio gives the viewer no natural place to leave.
• The background asks nothing. Parkour or a mobile runner clip occupies the attention that would otherwise go hunting for the next video. The story keeps the language channel, the gameplay keeps the visual one.

That is why story videos usually hold longer than a talking clip of the same length. It also means the format lives or dies on the first sentence.

You give the generator a direction. It writes the story, voices it, times the captions and picks the background, then returns a 9:16 file. There is no timeline and no export dialog.

1. Give it the idea. A rough premise ("a wedding betrayal told by the bride's sister"), or a product URL when the story has to end on a product.
2. Steer it with a short prompt. An optional box of up to 500 characters takes instructions like "make it a workplace story" or "angrier, first person". It is direction, not a script.
3. The AI writes the story. Title, body and the community name that appears on the card. If the draft is wrong, regenerate.

Not every community converts into video. The ones that do share one property: the title states a conflict and withholds the outcome. Use these as story types, not as places to copy from.

Rewrite, do not read out

Treat a real post as a premise, not a script. Describe the situation in your own words, change the names, the city and the job, and let the generator write a new story from it. Two reasons, neither optional.

Policy first. Then the people in the story. Never keep a real name, workplace, school, face or phone number. A story that identifies someone is your problem long before it is the algorithm's.

The title is the whole funnel. Everything else is delivery. Four rules cover most of it.

• Name the conflict in the first seven words. "My sister invited my ex to my wedding" beats "So this happened last summer and I need advice."
• Withhold exactly one thing. The outcome, the reason or the identity. Withhold two and the viewer stops guessing.
• Use concrete nouns. A stolen inheritance, a wedding dress, a locked phone. Abstractions do not create pictures.
• Ask the question the comments will argue about. The viewer who wants to say "you were right" stays to the end to say it.

Structure the body in four beats

Ask for a closing line that is a question. "So was I wrong?" is the cheapest comment you will ever earn, and comments help decide whether the next batch of viewers sees the video.

Each of these is a premise, not a script. Drop one into the idea box, let the generator write the story, and regenerate until the title reads like something a person typed at 2am.

1. The seating chart. A bride seats her sister next to the cousin nobody speaks to, and learns why at the reception.
2. The locked phone. A partner's screen lights up with a name that should not exist, and the explanation is worse than cheating.
3. The inheritance clause. A grandparent leaves the house to the one grandchild who never visited, with a note explaining why.
4. The group chat mistake. A message meant for one friend goes to 14 colleagues, including the one it was about.
5. The parking spot. Eleven months of polite notes, then one perfectly legal move that ends it.
6. The malicious compliance raise. A manager says "do only what is in your job description," so the employee does, and the department stops working.
7. The borrowed dress. A friend returns the wedding dress altered, and expects thanks.
8. The fake internship. A student finds out on day three that the company has no clients and no product.
9. The restaurant bill. A birthday dinner for 12, and the person who invited everyone leaves before the check arrives.
10. The DNA test gift. A cheap holiday present reveals a sibling in the same town.

Run the strongest three as separate videos. A story with two unrelated conflicts loses both.

The one-minute rule is why this format pays better than most

TikTok's Creator Rewards only counts original videos over one minute long that pull at least 1,000 views on the For You feed. Duets and stitches do not count. Most faceless formats run 15 to 30 seconds, so they never qualify. A Reddit story runs 60 to 90 seconds by default, which is why creators chasing Creator Rewards keep coming back to it.

What a thousand views is worth

Shorts RPM is small and varies by country and niche. Volume matters, but only because it buys you data. Three videos a day teaches you which hooks work four times faster than three a week.

A workable rhythm: generate 10 to 15 videos in one session, watch the first three seconds of each, delete anything whose title you would scroll past, then spread what is left across five days. Change the on-platform caption for each surface. Do not post 20 near-identical videos in a day: that is the behavior the inauthentic content policy describes.

• Reading a real post word for word. It is repurposed content with nothing added, and it names real people. Rewrite the premise.
• Burying the hook. "Hi guys, so this happened a few years ago" costs half the audience before the conflict arrives.
• One story, two conflicts. Pick the stronger one and cut the other into its own video.
• No payoff. A story that stops instead of ending trains viewers to leave early next time.
• Captions in the wrong place. Keep them in the middle third. The bottom is covered by the platform interface.
• Identical uploads. Same voice, same gameplay, same title shape, 50 times. YouTube's policy requires content that is not "mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative."

• Never testing a second voice. The voice sets the perceived age of the channel.
