The gas station dance is a 2024 road trip reel that went viral again in September 2026: on a roadside gas station parking lot, one friend dances, one films a selfie and one steps out of a car, to Akcent's 2009 song "Stay with Me". Your photos take their places in that reel. You need three photos, or one.

How to make the Gas Station Dance video on MakeViral

Everything runs in the browser. No editing app, no prompt to write, no watermark.

  1. Add the three photos

Press "Create your own" and add the dancer, then the selfie friend, then the friend in the car. Add them in this order, because the order decides who is who in the scene. Take them with the camera or pick them from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button shows the price. Genjutsu Motion puts your photos into the Gas station dance trend clip and copies it shot by shot for 15 seconds, with the reel's original song. You write no prompt.

  3. Download or share

The video is ready in a few minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share it from your phone, or find it later in your Library.

Which photo works best?

3 friends: add one photo per person, in the order of the reel.

  • Photo 1, the dancer: full body if you can. They dance on the open parking lot from head to toe, so their clothes and shoes show.
  • Photo 2, the selfie friend: a clear face photo. Their face fills the frame in the selfie.
  • Photo 3, the friend in the car: a sharp face photo in good light, ideally full body. They get the big close-up with the wind in their hair, then stand between the cars.

Just you: one sharp photo, face to the camera, full body if you have one. You play all three parts.

Everyone wears the clothes from their photo. One person per photo, no sunglasses, no filters, and only adults who said yes.

Where did the Gas Station Dance trend start?

The clip is real footage. On 1 July 2024, the blogger Adel Veigel (@adelveigel) posted it on Instagram with the caption "tag the one you want to fly off into the sunset with". On a long drive, she and her friends, the Russian blogger Mikhail Litvin and the streamer Ravshan Dzhulpaev, stop on the parking lot of a roadside gas station. Ravshan dances to the car stereo, Litvin films himself, and Adel climbs out of the car. The song is "Stay with Me" by the Romanian group Akcent, from 2009. By 12 October 2026 the reel had 1.65 million likes.

In late September 2026 the clip came back on TikTok, first as reposts (a Turkish repost of the longer original passed 1.4 million views), then as AI versions. From 24 September, CapCut templates, and later Dreamina ones, let people put themselves and their friends into the three parts, Akcent's own account posted about the trend, and on 2 October the Italian news site Sky TG24 called the AI versions "the trend of the moment". MakeViral puts your photos into the original reel.

Use the reference video's actions, timing, camera movement, and setting. Replace the opening dancer with image 1, the selfie appearance with image 2, and the car-side performer with image 3. Use each photo's face, hair, body, and outfit. Keep roles consistent, preserve the vehicle, and add no people or actions. Image 1 replaces the man in the white polo shirt and light blue jeans who dances alone on the empty parking lot and throws both arms up: keep that face, hair, skin tone and body exactly, in the clothes from image 1, with no beard unless image 1 shows one. Image 2 replaces the man in the black bucket hat and the black t-shirt who films himself in the selfie in front of the gas station: keep that face, hair and skin tone exactly, in the clothes from image 2, with no bucket hat and no beard unless image 2 shows them. Image 3 replaces the young woman with long dark hair in the black track jacket who steps out of the grey car, looks into the camera in the close-up with the wind in her hair and then dances between the two cars: keep that face, hair and skin tone exactly in every shot, also in the close-up, in the clothes from image 3, with no long dark hair unless image 3 shows it. Do not mix the three faces. No text, no captions, no logos, no badges or lettering on the cars, no readable number plates.

How many credits does it cost?

You pay per video in credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. The one-tap price covers the video, made in one step from your photos and the trend clip, charged once. One video is 191 credits, so the smallest one-time pack that covers it is $39.99 for 450 credits, with no subscription. The cheaper models are there if you run the prompts by hand in AI Video.

What happens in the gas station dance, second by second?

Your clip is 15 seconds of the original reel, filmed on a phone in two handheld takes, with your photos in the three parts:

SecondsWhat happensWho
0 to 4On an empty parking lot under a big sky, the dancer sways to the song, then throws both arms up.Photo 1
4 to 6The camera swings round to a selfie: the second friend grins and waves, with the gas station behind.Photo 2
6 to 7.5Cut to two parked cars. A door opens and the third friend climbs out.Photo 3
7.5 to 12Close-up: the third friend looks into the camera with the wind in their hair, then breaks into a smile.Photo 3
12 to 15The third friend stands between the two cars and does a little dance.Photo 3

The original reel is 17.6 seconds long. It ends with the camera swinging back to the selfie friend, who sings along with his eyes closed. We end on the car friend, so the dance at the start keeps all of its 4 seconds in a 15-second clip.

Two versions. "3 friends" takes three photos, one per part, in the order above. "Just you" takes one photo and puts you in all three parts: you dance, you take the selfie and you step out of the car.

How does MakeViral make it, and what does it cost?

Higgsfield Genjutsu takes the original reel and your photos and puts each person in place of one friend, shot by shot. The parking lot, the cars, the sky, the moves and the handheld camera stay as in the reel. Each person keeps the face, hair and clothes from their photo. You write no prompt.

The exact price shows on the Generate button before you spend anything, and the video waits in your Library when it is ready, usually in 5 to 10 minutes.

The copy of the reel that the model works from has no text on it, and the car badges and the number plate are blurred, so the model has no text or badges to copy.

Why copy the real reel? The charm of the trend is that it looks like a real phone video from a road trip. Swapping the people in the real footage keeps the real light, the real cars and the shaky camera.

Which song, caption and hashtags should you post it with?

The song is "Stay with Me" by Akcent, a Romanian dance-pop group, from 2009. Some reposts list it as "On and On". Your clip comes with the reel's own sound, so it is ready to post. You can turn the sound off on the result screen and add the song from the TikTok or Instagram sound library instead. The song belongs to its owners, and MakeViral gives you no rights to it. Check the music rules before you use the clip in an ad or a paid post.

Captions that fit the joke: the original "Tag the one you want to fly off into the sunset with", "That long road trip vibe", or "Every gas station stop with us". Tag the two friends who are in it.

Hashtags: on 12 October 2026, #gasstationtrend had 413 TikTok videos and 22.3 million views, and #gasstationdance had 228 videos and 13.6 million views. #akcent and #staywithme also fit. Keep the platform's AI label on.

FAQ

Gas Station Dance trend questions

What is the gas station dance trend?
It is a TikTok and Instagram trend from September 2026 that copies a 2024 road trip reel. On the parking lot of a roadside gas station, one friend dances to the car stereo, one films a selfie and one steps out of the car, to "Stay with Me" by Akcent. Most new versions are made with AI: people put their own faces, or famous ones, into the three parts.
Who is in the original gas station dance video?
The blogger Adel Veigel posted it on Instagram on 1 July 2024 (@adelveigel). The dancer is her friend Ravshan Dzhulpaev, the one with the selfie is the blogger Mikhail Litvin, and Adel is the one who steps out of the car. That is why people also call it the Litvin dance or the Ravshan, Litvin and Adel dance.
What is the song in the gas station dance?
"Stay with Me" by the Romanian group Akcent, released in 2009. Some reposts list it as "On and On". The song plays from the car in the original reel, and your MakeViral clip comes with that sound.
How do I make the gas station dance with my friends?
Press "Create your own", pick "3 friends" and add three photos in this order: the dancer, the selfie friend, the friend in the car. Then press Generate. The button shows the price first. You get a 15-second vertical video with the song, usually in 5 to 10 minutes, and you write no prompt.
Can I do the gas station dance alone?
Yes. Pick "Just you" and add one photo. You play all three parts: you dance on the parking lot, you take the selfie and you step out of the car. A sharp, front-facing photo works best, because your face gets a big close-up.
Do I need CapCut or Dreamina?
No. Most copies of the trend use a CapCut or Dreamina template. MakeViral runs in the browser: you add your photos here, download the finished MP4 and post it from your phone.
Is it filmed at a gas station or a parking lot?
Both: the original was filmed on the parking lot of a roadside gas station, with trucks in the back and the gas station roof in the selfie. Your clip keeps that place, the two parked cars and the golden sky from the reel.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
15 seconds, vertical 9:16, 480p, as an MP4 file. It comes with the reel's own sound, the song from the car stereo, and you can turn the sound off on the result screen.
Does the gas station dance video cost credits?
Yes. Each video costs credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. If a video fails, the credits come back.
Can I use photos of my friends?
Yes, if they said yes. Use photos of adults who agreed to be in the video, never a celebrity or a stranger. Everyone keeps their own face and the clothes from their photo.
