Which photo works best?

You need one sharp photo of your face (Duo: one of you and one of your friend).

  • Face the camera, in good light, from the chest up. The whole clip is an extreme close-up of the rapper's face, so a sharp, front-facing photo matters most.
  • No sunglasses and no beauty filter. Your hair, hat and clothes come from your photo.
  • One person per photo. Men and women both work: the video follows the person in your photo.
  • Duo: photo 1 is the rapper, photo 2 is the friend at your shoulder. Swap them to swap the roles.
  • Use your own photo or one of an adult friend who said yes. Never a celebrity, a stranger or a child.

Where did the Check One Check Two trend start?

The check one check two filter grew out of an old UK grime clip. The clip comes from a Boy Better Know freestyle where Skepta, JME, Frisco and Jammer take turns in a night crowd. In JME's part, the Tottenham MC and Skepta's younger brother raps into a camera held right at his face, and his verse opens with "check one, check two". On 29 June 2025, @bexblu_ reposted it on TikTok as "check one check two", and it passed 4.4 million views. A "JME freestyle Skepta" repost passed 314,000 views in August 2026, and the words now also name a club track by Luke Dean, Locky and JME.

The AI version started on 18 October 2026 with a CapCut template called "JME Rap check 1 check 2". UK creators put famous faces in JME's place: one post passed 371,000 views that day, and the "Check one check two filter" posts of 19 October went further, the biggest at 549,000 views with the Top Gear presenters. By 21 October, dozens of how-to videos for the JME filter were up, and in UK Google Trends "check one check two" reached its 30-day high on 20 October.

  1. @bexblu_ reposts the old JME grime clip as "check one check two"; it has 4.4 million views and 628,300 likes by 21 October 2026. TikTok

  2. A "JME freestyle Skepta" repost of the clip passes 314,000 views, two months before the AI wave. TikTok

  3. The first AI posts of the CapCut template "JME Rap check 1 check 2" appear, with famous faces in JME's place; one passes 371,000 views.

  4. The "Check one check two filter" posts start; the biggest, again with famous faces, has 549,600 views by 21 October, the top post of the trend.

  5. UK Google searches for "check one check two" reach their 30-day high, 50% above their level on 9 October, per Google Trends data we read on 21 October.

  6. The creator @iamrodz_1 posts his own-face version, and #checkonechecktwo holds 204 TikTok videos with 1.2 million views. TikTok

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same grainy, low-light camcorder footage of a packed crowd outside at night, the same handheld camera held a hand's width from the face, the same camera angles, swings, timing and moves. The rapper's mouth moves with the words exactly like in the video. The ONLY change: the young man in the white T-shirt and the black durag who leans into the lens and raps is now the person in [Image 1]. The rapper = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY frame from 0.6 s to the end: copy the exact face from [Image 1] - face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles exactly as in the photo. Preserve the person's facial features, hairstyle, body proportions, and outfit throughout the video. They wear the clothes and the hair or headwear from [Image 1]: NO black durag, NO earring and NO white T-shirt unless [Image 1] shows them. They copy the rapping mouth, the raised eyebrows, the head moves and the pointing finger of the rapper in the video, not the smile in [Image 1]. If [Image 1] shows an animal, the rapper is that animal, with its own face, fur and markings. The same real person in every frame, so their friends instantly recognize them, also in the extreme close-ups and while the mouth is wide open. Never morph, never drift back to the original rapper's face, never add or remove facial hair. THE SHOTS, at the same times as [Video 1]: 0.0-0.6 s: the camera looks at two men side by side in the crowd under a street light; they keep their own faces. 0.6-10.0 s: the camera swings to the rapper and stays right at the face: a huge, slightly distorted close-up that fills the frame, the dark crowd behind. The rapper spits the verse straight into the lens, leans in, raises the eyebrows, points one finger at the lens, turns the head away and back, and keeps the eyes on the camera. The face is large and sharp: exactly the face from [Image 1]. The people in the crowd behind keep their own faces and never take the face from [Image 1]. Anatomy rules: one head only, on the rapper's own shoulders. A face never appears on hands or clothes. Two hands with five fingers each. No text, no captions, no logos, no watermark.

What goes wrong, and how do you fix it?

ProblemFix
Your face looks like the rapper in the clipUse a sharper, front-facing photo in good light, then run it again. A photo that already looks like him can keep his face.
A black durag or an earring shows upThe rapper in the clip wears both. The prompt bans them unless your photo shows them; run it again if they come back.
The words run a little ahead at the very endThe video comes out up to a fifth of a second shorter than the clip, so the vocal can drift at the end. Most viewers never notice.
Your friend is missing in some frames (Duo)The original clip has no one at the rapper's shoulder, so the friend is added. Run it again, or use a sharper photo of your friend.
The clip is landscapeIt keeps the frame of the trend clip. TikTok and Reels show it with bars, or you can crop it when you post.
The video model refuses the photoSome photos get refused. The credits come back; try another photo.

Every run is a new take, so results differ from run to run.

How should you post your check one check two video?

Sound: your video already has the original vocal of the clip. The vocal and the clip belong to their owners, and MakeViral gives you no rights to them. On TikTok you can also add the trending check one check two sound from the app's library and turn the original down. Check the music rules before you use it in an ad.

Captions that fit the trend: "Check one, check two", "Who's got the best bars?", "My UK grime era" or tag the friend who always grabs the mic. The check one check two TikTok posts that took off were short, with no text over the face.

FAQ

Check One Check Two trend questions

What is the check one check two filter?
It is a TikTok AI trend from October 2026: an AI filter puts your face on JME in an old UK grime clip, and you rap the "check one, check two" verse into a camera right at your face, in a packed night crowd. The check one check two trend started on 18 October 2026 with a CapCut template, and the biggest post passed 549,000 views by 21 October. Here you make your own check one check two AI video from one photo.
Who is the rapper in the original check one check two clip?
It is JME, the grime MC from Tottenham and Skepta's younger brother, in his part of an old Boy Better Know crew freestyle. The JME check one check two clip went viral again on TikTok in 2025, when @bexblu_'s repost passed 4.4 million views. That repost is the JME freestyle original most people mean.
Is it the Skepta JME freestyle?
It comes from it. The verse is JME's part of the Boy Better Know freestyle with Skepta, Frisco and Jammer, the Skepta & JME freestyle that GRM Daily's upload took past 1 million YouTube views. The filter uses only JME's part, so the trend also goes by JME and Skepta grime freestyle. Skepta freestyle AI is the name of an earlier template with a different radio freestyle. UK Google searches for the skepta and jme freestyle and the jme skepta freestyle rose in October 2026 with the trend.
What is the JME filter?
The JME filter is what UK creators call the check one check two filter: a CapCut template, "JME Rap check 1 check 2", that puts any face in JME's place. The JME rap filter and the JME AI trend are the same thing. This page makes the same clip from your own photo, as a JME freestyle AI video, with no template app.
Is there a check one check two CapCut template?
Yes, the trend began as a check one check two CapCut template, and a check one check two filter tutorial or a JME freestyle tutorial on TikTok shows how to open it and add a photo. You do not need the JME CapCut template here: add a photo, pick Solo or Duo and press Generate.
What does JME say in the clip?
The verse opens with "check one, check two", and the line people quote most in the comments is "half Yoruba, half Igbo". People search for the check one check two JME lyrics and the check one check two lyrics to find the whole verse. Your video carries the same vocal from the original clip, cut to 10 seconds.
Is check one check two a song?
The words come from JME's grime verse in the clip. There is also a club track called "Check One, Check Two" by Luke Dean, Locky and JME, so a search for the check one check two song can find either one. The AI filter uses the vocal from the original clip, and so does your video.
What does check 1 check 2 mean?
"Check 1, check 2" is the classic mic check before an MC starts rapping. In the check 1 check 2 JME clip it is the start of his verse, which is why the trend took the name.
Can I do it with a friend?
Yes, pick Duo and add two photos: you first, then your friend. You open the clip side by side, then you rap and your friend hypes you up at your shoulder, the way the two-person posts of the trend do it.
Is this an AI rapper video maker?
Yes. It makes an AI rapper video of you in this one grime clip, as part of the AI rap trend on TikTok. The JME rap meme and the wider UK rap AI trend use the same idea: an old UK rap clip with a new face. If you want a UK rap AI video in another scene, see the other rap pages linked above.
Is it a real grime freestyle?
The original is a real grime freestyle, a JME grime freestyle from the Boy Better Know days of the 2000s. Your video is AI-made: the clip is redrawn with your face, and the rest is the original footage's crowd, camera and sound. Never post it as real footage of you, and keep the AI label on.
Who made the example on this page?
The comedy creator @iamrodz_1 made it with his own face on 21 October 2026. The biggest posts of the trend use famous faces, so we show his instead. Solo puts your face in the same spot.
Does it work for women?
Yes. The video follows the person in your photo, so a woman gets the same close-up, the same verse and the same moves. The crowd and the camera stay the same.
How long is the video, and does it cost credits?
Both versions make 10 seconds in the clip's own landscape frame, at 720p, as an MP4 file with the original vocal. Each video costs credits: the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. If a video fails, the credits come back.
