AI Cupid Trend: Cupid Dives at You, Your Handbag Says Not Today

Cupid aims from a cathedral ledge, dives at you, and you knock him out of the air with your handbag, then walk on while he lies in a cloud of feathers. Or pick Arrow: his arrow misses the man and you fall in love with a coat. One photo, about 15 seconds, with the reel's sound.

How to make the AI Cupid Trend video on MakeViral

Everything runs in the browser. No editing app, no prompt to write, no watermark.

  1. Add your photo

Press "Create your own" and add you, face clear. Take it with the camera or pick it from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button shows the price. Seedance 2.5 puts your photos into the AI Cupid Trend trend clip and copies it shot by shot for 15 seconds, with the reel's original song. You write no prompt.

  3. Download or share

The video is ready in up to several minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share it from your phone, or find it later in My videos.

Which photo works best?

Both versions take one photo of yourself: you play the woman Cupid goes after.

  • The face: big, sharp and turned to the camera, in good light. Head and shoulders or from the waist up works best, because the last shot of each reel walks right up to your face.
  • Your clothes: Handbag puts you in the outfit from your photo, so a photo that shows your top helps. Arrow always dresses you in a long black coat, because the arrow sticks in it.
  • No sunglasses, mask or hat over the face, and only one person in the photo.
  • Use your own photo, or one of an adult friend who said yes. This template is for adults only.

Where did the AI Cupid Trend trend start?

It started as a sketch meme. In late August 2026 a short black-and-white cartoon went around TikTok: a woman walks along, a little Cupid aims his bow at her, and she swats him away with her handbag without even stopping. One English repost carried the line "Aim somewhere else!" and the caption "Not today Cupid", and Spanish-speaking women posted it with captions like "I hit Cupid with my bag so many times he never came back".

Then AI creators made it photoreal. On 2 September 2026 an Argentine account posted a cinematic AI version, a winged Cupid diving from a palace roof at a woman in a white coat, with the caption "le dimos una paliza a cupido" (we gave Cupid a beating); it passed 298,000 views. In October two Instagram reels took the joke further. On 9 October @anamadeai posted an AI fashion film where a cherub's heart arrow misses the man and hits a coat in a shop window, so the woman falls for the coat (103,398 likes by 21 October). On 11 October @emily.skye.official posted the handbag version at a Gothic cathedral, which reached 496,546 likes and 11,133 comments by 21 October.

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: a sunny autumn afternoon on a wide grey paved square in front of a Gothic cathedral, a young man dressed as Cupid with big white feathered wings and a gold bow, and one woman who walks across the square, with the same camera angles, cuts, timing and moves. The ONLY change: the woman with long brown hair in the tan suede jacket is now the person in [Image 1]. Cupid, the cathedral, the square, the light and the camera stay exactly as in [Video 1]. The woman = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY shot: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles) exactly as in the photo. They wear the clothes from [Image 1] and carry a plain black leather handbag with no logo. The same real person from the first frame to the last, so their friends recognize them at once, also in the hit and in the last close walk to the camera. Never morph, never drift back to the original woman's face. No long wavy brown hair and no tan suede jacket unless [Image 1] shows them. Cupid stays the same young man as in [Video 1] in every shot: short curly dark hair, a white toga with a gold belt, big white feathered wings on his back, bare feet and a gold bow. He never gets the face from [Image 1]. The shots, matching the reference second by second: 0-3 s: high angle from a carved stone ledge of the cathedral: Cupid sits on the ledge high above the square and draws the gold bow with a gold arrow; far below, one small figure walks across the square. At about 1.2 s he drops off the ledge and dives head first, wings spreading. 3-5.7 s: from behind and above, Cupid glides down over the square toward the cathedral front, the woman small ahead of him. 5.7-7.3 s: street level in front of the cathedral's carved arched doors: the woman walks toward the camera with the handbag in one hand; Cupid swoops down at her from above with the bow raised; she swings the handbag hard with both hands and smacks him in mid-air. 7.3-8.5 s: Cupid flips backwards and crashes flat on his back on the paving stones, arms and wings spread; a burst of white feathers flies up, the gold bow lands next to him. 8.5-12.5 s: he lies still, knocked out, feathers floating down; the woman smooths her hair, bends down and picks up the handbag, cool and calm. 12.5-15 s: the woman walks past him toward the camera, calm and a little proud, one hand on her jacket, the face big and sharp in the frame, Cupid knocked out on the ground behind her. Anatomy rules: one head only per person, on their own shoulders; two arms and five fingers on each hand; Cupid has exactly two wings, on his back. Only Cupid and the woman up close; the tiny far walkers of the first shots may stay. Comic slapstick: no blood, no wound, Cupid is only knocked out cold and lies still. No text, no captions, no logos, no watermark.

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: an autumn city boulevard with yellow trees, wet fallen leaves and parked cars, a little winged cherub who shoots heart-tipped arrows from a carved Gothic stone balcony, one woman in a long black coat and one man in a long brown coat, with the same camera angles, cuts, timing and moves. The ONLY change: the woman with long blonde hair in the black coat is now the person in [Image 1]. The cherub, the man, the street, the shop window, the green coat and the light stay exactly as in [Video 1]. The woman = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY shot she is in: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles) exactly as in the photo. They wear a long black belted wool coat over their own clothes, so the arrow can stick in it. The same real person in both of her shots, so their friends recognize them at once, also in the last close shot through the shop window. Never morph, never drift back to the original woman's face. No long straight blonde hair unless [Image 1] shows it. The man in the long dark brown coat stays the same man as in [Video 1], and the little winged cherub with blond curls on the balcony stays exactly as in [Video 1]. Neither of them gets the face from [Image 1]. The shots, matching the reference second by second: 0-2.5 s: close: the cherub leans over the edge of the stone balcony and draws a gold bow with an arrow that has a red heart tip, aiming down at the street. 2.5-4.3 s: the woman walks toward the camera down the boulevard; an arrow with a red heart tip flies in from the left and sticks in the chest of her coat; she stops, looks down at it, surprised. 4.3-5.7 s: close: the cherub draws the bow again and aims. 5.7-12.1 s: the man walks past a lit boutique window; the heart arrow flies at his face, he leans back so it passes right in front of his mouth and pushes it away with one hand; it flies past him through the shop window, and the camera moves in to a mannequin in a long olive-green leather trench coat with the heart arrow stuck in its chest. 12.1-13.8 s: through the shop glass, with the heart arrow tip in the front of the frame, the woman stands outside, looks at the green coat and breaks into a soft, in-love smile, the face big and sharp. 13.8-14.5 s: close: the cherub on the balcony with the bow again. Anatomy rules: one head only per person, on their own shoulders; two arms and five fingers on each hand; the cherub has exactly two small wings, on his back, and wears his cream drape. Exactly one woman, one man and the cherub. No blood, no wound: the arrows only stick in the coats. No brand names, no logos, no text, no captions, no watermark.

How many credits does it cost?

You pay per video in credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. The one-tap price covers the video, made in one step from your photos and the trend clip, charged once. One video is 228 credits, so the smallest one-time pack that covers it is $39.99 for 450 credits, with no subscription. The cheaper models are there if you run the prompts by hand in AI Video.

What happens in your AI Cupid video?

Handbag (the default, about 15 seconds):

SecondsWhat happens
0 to 3High on a carved cathedral ledge, Cupid with big white wings draws his gold bow. You are a tiny figure crossing the square below. He drops off the ledge and dives.
3 to 5.7Cupid glides down over the square toward you.
5.7 to 7.3He swoops at you with the bow raised, and you swing your handbag and hit him out of the air.
7.3 to 8.5Cupid flips and lands flat on his back in a burst of white feathers.
8.5 to 12.5He lies there knocked out while you smooth your hair and pick up your bag.
12.5 to 15You walk past him toward the camera, calm, your face big in the frame.

Arrow (about 14.5 seconds): a little cherub shoots a heart arrow from a Gothic balcony, and it sticks in your coat. His second arrow goes for a man in a brown coat, who dodges it, so it hits a green leather coat in a shop window. The last shot shows you outside the window, smiling at the coat.

Both are a character swap of the real AI reels, not a new scene: top-quality AI video models, including Seedance 2.5, take the original clip and put you in the woman's place, with the same Cupid, the same streets and the same camera moves. The video is vertical 9:16 at 720p, with the reel's own sound put back on after the run. Press "Create your own", add your photo and press Generate. The exact price shows on the Generate button first, and a run can take 5 to 15 minutes.

Handbag or Arrow: which version?

VersionPhotosWhat you get
Handbag1The cupid handbag trend: Cupid dives at you at a Gothic cathedral and you knock him out with your bag. The reel plays a slow love ballad.
Arrow1The arrow joke: the heart arrow hits your coat, the next one misses the man and hits a coat in a shop window, and you fall for the coat. The reel plays soft autumn music.

Handbag is the one most people post: the cupid fail where you are the one who says no. Arrow is the softer, fashion-film version, good for a coat or shopping joke. Both cost the same, and the price shows on the Generate button of each version.

Not today, Cupid: what do people call it?

There is no single name yet. In English people search the cupid trend, the cupid meme, the cupid AI trend or the AI cupid trend, some just Cupid vs handbag, and many captions say "Not today Cupid". The not today cupid meme and the anti cupid meme are the same joke: love shows up and gets turned away. People also call it the cupid fail, cupid failed or cupid knocked out, and some search a dead cupid meme, which is this same clip of Cupid lying flat on the ground (he is only knocked out cold). The sketch it came from, "Aim somewhere else!", is a cupid meme animation, and it lives on as a cupid capcut template trend and a cupid tiktok trend. The AI versions are the cupid trend instagram reels you see now.

The arrow version is a cupid arrow meme, close to the classic cupid shooting arrow meme: the cupid missed, and the cupid arrow coat joke is that the heart arrow lands in a coat instead of the man. Funny cupid meme posts from both versions keep coming.

In Spanish the trend is the cupido trend, with captions like "paliza a cupido" (a beating for Cupid), and people look for how to make cupido con ia. Russian AI bots sell it as "купидон" (Cupid), searched as купидон ии.

It is not the K-pop Cupid dance trend, and it has nothing to do with dating apps.

FAQ

AI Cupid Trend trend questions

What is the AI Cupid trend?
A viral AI reel where Cupid fails. In the main version he dives at a woman from a cathedral ledge and she knocks him out of the air with her handbag, then walks on. It grew out of a sketch meme from August 2026 and went viral as a photoreal AI video in September and October 2026.
How do I make the AI Cupid video?
Press "Create your own", pick Handbag or Arrow, add one clear photo of yourself and press Generate. The button shows the price first. You get a vertical video of about 15 seconds with the reel's sound, and you write no prompt. It can take 5 to 15 minutes.
Which AI makes the cupid AI video?
Top-quality AI video models, including Seedance 2.5. The model takes the original reel and your photo and swaps you into the clip, keeping Cupid, the square and the camera moves. If a model refuses a photo, MakeViral tries a backup model. You do not need a separate cupid ai video generator.
What is the prompt for the AI Cupid trend?
No creator shared one: the AI versions send their how-to in private messages, and the captions and comments hold no prompt. We wrote our own prompt in the same style as our other reel copies, shot by shot along the original reels. You write no prompt yourself.
Is there a cupid AI version where his arrow misses?
Yes, pick Arrow. The cherub's heart arrow sticks in your coat, his second arrow misses the man and hits a green leather coat in a shop window, and you end up in love with the coat. It copies the AI reel by @anamadeai.
Does Cupid get hurt in the video?
No. It is slapstick: he is knocked out cold, lies flat in a cloud of feathers and that is all. There is no blood and no injury in the video.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
About 15 seconds, vertical 9:16, at 720p. It has the original reel's sound, which you can turn off on the result screen and swap for your own song when you post.
Does the AI Cupid video cost credits?
Yes. The Generate button shows the exact price before you spend anything, and if a video fails, the credits come back.
Will the woman from the original reel be in my video?
No. You take her place. Cupid, and in Arrow the man and the cherub, stay as in the reel. MakeViral is not linked with @emily.skye.official or @anamadeai.
Is this the K-pop Cupid dance trend?
No. That cupid trend is a hand dance to a K-pop song. This one is the AI Cupid fail, where Cupid gets knocked out of the air or his arrow hits a coat. It is great for an anti-Valentine post or any time someone asks about your love life.
