Who is AutoShorts.ai for, and who is MakeViral for?
AutoShorts sells a channel that runs itself. You create a series, pick a topic or write a custom prompt, choose an art style, a voice and a language, and connect a TikTok, YouTube or Instagram account. From then on it writes, renders and posts on the cadence your plan allows. Its own FAQ is blunt about the model: "AutoShorts doesn't focus on individual video creation. Instead, you set up a Series that automatically generates videos on a schedule."
MakeViral sells videos, one at a time or a hundred at a time. You give it a prompt, a script or a product URL and it returns a 9:16 file with an AI script, an AI voiceover, word-timed captions and a background. Nothing connects to a social account, and nothing posts.
That difference decides the purchase:
- Buy AutoShorts if the thing stopping you is consistency, and you want one topic covered daily without opening a tab.
- Buy MakeViral if the thing stopping you is production, and you want many formats, many angles and the freedom to post 20 videos this week and none the next.
The trap in the automation pitch is the series limit. Every AutoShorts plan, up to $69 a month, includes one series. Running three niches means three subscriptions, or swapping the series and losing the old one's schedule.
What does the output actually look like?
Both tools produce the same shape of video: vertical, narrated by a synthetic voice, captioned, about 30 to 60 seconds, no human on camera. The difference is what fills the screen.
AutoShorts fills it with generated scene imagery in a chosen art style. Its samples on the pricing page are labelled Minecraft, GTAV, Lego, Disney Toon, Comic Book, Childrens Book, Expressionism and UGC Hook. Still images are the default, and motion credits animate them: a Starter plan gets 27 motion credits a month, Hardcore gets 124, and you set how many each video may spend. MakeViral fills it with the format itself. A fake text message video is bubbles arriving over gameplay with a typing indicator. A quiz video is a question, answer states and a pause before the reveal. A Reddit story video is the post on screen while the voice reads it. These are layouts, not art styles, and they are the reason the videos read as native to the feed rather than as AI slideshows.
So the honest comparison is: AutoShorts is stronger when the value is in the narration and you want visual variety behind it. MakeViral is stronger when the value is in the format, and the viewer stays for the mechanic rather than the pictures.

Every paid plan includes 1 series, auto-posting, HD resolution, background music, voice cloning and no watermark. The yearly toggle advertises two months free.
MakeViral on September 30, 2026, from its pricing page: Starter $49.99 a month for 700 credits, which is 70 videos at 10 credits each. Pro $199.99 a month for 3,000 credits, which is 300 videos. Yearly billing takes 17 percent off. No free plan, and a new account starts with zero credits.
Now the number that matters, since both sell finished videos:

AutoShorts is cheaper to start and more expensive per video at every tier. You are paying the difference for the posting robot and the schedule. Whether that is worth $0.75 a video is a real question, not a rhetorical one: if you would not otherwise post consistently, it probably is.
How do you move from AutoShorts to MakeViral?
- Download the series output you want to keep. Cancelling ends the series, and the FAQ confirms there are no refunds, so time the move for the end of a billing cycle.
- Copy your custom prompt. The prompt you tuned is the asset. It becomes a MakeViral prompt with no rewriting, since both take plain text.
- Translate cadence into a batch. A Daily plan is about 30 videos a month. In MakeViral that is one bulk run of 30, costing 300 credits, inside a Starter plan's 700.
- Pick formats rather than one topic. Instead of a single series, split the niche: one Reddit story angle, one Would You Rather, one quiz. Three formats on one topic beats one format on repeat for watch time.
- Replace the posting robot. This is the real cost of moving. MakeViral does not auto-post, so you upload manually or feed the files to a scheduler you already pay for.

Where MakeViral falls short against AutoShorts
No auto-posting and no scheduling. This is the whole reason AutoShorts exists, and MakeViral has none of it. No connected accounts, no queue, no posting calendar. You download files and upload them yourself, every time.
No unattended mode. AutoShorts keeps producing while you ignore it. MakeViral produces when you ask. If your failure mode is forgetting to post, MakeViral will not fix it.
Higher entry price and no free plan. $49.99 a month against $19, and a new MakeViral account starts with zero credits. The 14-day refund window on unused credits is the only low-risk way in. AutoShorts' free plan is suspended right now, so neither tool has a working free tier today.

No voice cloning. AutoShorts lists voice cloning on every paid plan. MakeViral uses its own AI voices, and you cannot upload your own.
Is AutoShorts.ai free?
Not right now. The pricing section lists a $0 plan that creates 1 video with 1 series and 0 motion credits, but it is labelled "Temporarily paused" and the billing FAQ explains why: "We have temporarily suspended the free plan due to abuse from botting / spamming. We will be re-enabling it soon once we implement a better bot detection system." Checked September 15, 2026.
So the real entry price today is $19 a month, and there are no refunds. The FAQ states: "Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds as costs incurred for creating AI videos and generating AI photos are extremely high," and notes you waive the right at signup. Budget the first month as spent.
MakeViral is not a free alternative either. It has no free plan and new accounts start with zero credits. If a free tier is a hard requirement, the only one in this comparison set that works today is OpusClip's $0 plan, which clips footage you already have rather than generating originals.
