This is the original reel that started the trend. Your video is a new clip made from your photo in the same style, not a copy of these shots. No two runs come out the same.

Original reel by @ia_chiomora, 9 s

The first post of the template, by @ia_chiomora on 20 October 2026: an older man, as a 3D animated character, takes his first steps on the glowing marigold bridge and gathers a handful of petals. Cropped to the animated part, without the caption and the photo at the end.

How to make the Marigold Bridge AI video on MakeViral

Everything runs in the browser. No editing app, no prompt to write, no watermark.

  1. Add your photo

Press "Create your own" and add your loved one (an adult). Take it with the camera or pick it from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button shows the price. MakeViral builds the Marigold Bridge AI scene with your photos, then Kling 3.0 animates it for 10 seconds with original sound. You write no prompt.

  3. Download or share

The video is ready in a few minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share it from your phone, or find it later in My videos.

Which photo works best?

Use one clear photo of the person you miss, an adult, the photo that looks most like them.

  • A sharp face that looks at the camera or a little to the side, in good light.
  • Waist up or full body is best: the clip shows them from head to shoes, so the clothes in the photo become their clothes on the bridge. A head-only photo works too.
  • Their glasses, cap, hat, watch or ring stay in the video, so pick a photo with the things you remember.
  • Old prints are fine. Lay the print flat and photograph it with no glare. A black-and-white photo comes out in warm, natural colors.
  • One person per photo. Crop a group photo first. For grandma and grandpa, make one video for each.

Where did the Marigold Bridge AI trend start?

In Mexico, cempasúchil (marigold) petals are said to guide the dead home on the Day of the Dead, 1 and 2 November. The 2017 Pixar film Coco made that path famous as a glowing bridge of petals to the afterlife: the marigold bridge, or puente de cempasúchil. People still search for the Coco bridge, the Coco marigold bridge and the Coco bridge scene, the crossing to the land of the dead, every October: "coco bridge" had about 1,600 US searches in October 2025.

In October 2025, Mexican TikTok filled with photos of relatives who had died that year, under the line "Es su primer Día de Muertos, no lo dejen cruzar solo".

The AI version came on 20 October 2026. The CapCut creator @ia_chiomora posted a template that turns one photo into a 3D animated clip of the person stepping onto the glowing bridge and gathering the petals, then their real photo on an altar. Her caption, "No lo dejen solito, es su primera vez cruzando el puente de cempasúchil" ("Don't leave him alone, it's his first time crossing the marigold bridge"), reached 3.5 million views in under three days, and the template passed 9,900 uses by 21 October.

  3. Her next posts with the template reach 658,400 and 477,100 views, and tutorials start in Mexico and the US; one, filmed when the template had 9,959 uses, gets 229,600 views. TikTok

  4. The #puentedecempasúchil tag holds 7.1 million views on TikTok, and #primerdiademuertos 10.2 million.

The Marigold Bridge AI prompts

You do not need these: the one-tap flow runs them for you. A photo prompt puts your photo into the scene, then a video prompt animates it. Want to change them? Copy them and edit them in AI Photo and AI Video.

1 photo: your loved one (an adult)Kling 3.010 s · 1080p · 9:1656 credits
Step 1 · Photo prompt

Use the uploaded image as the base. Turn the person in the photo into a warm 3D animated film character: a gentle, lifelike 3D version of themselves, like a scene from a modern animated feature film, with soft rounded shapes, slightly larger expressive eyes, smooth stylized skin and soft, warm cinematic light. Keep everything that makes them recognizable: the face shape, eye color, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, wrinkles, hairline, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, any beard, moustache, glasses, freckles or moles, and their own clothes with the colors and patterns from the photo, and any watch, ring, cap or hat. If the photo shows only the head or the upper body, add everyday trousers and shoes that go with the outfit. If the photo is an old black-and-white or faded print, give the character natural, warm colors. The place: night on a wide bridge carpeted with countless glowing orange marigold petals, under a deep blue night sky; a warm golden glow rises from the petals, and the far end of the bridge leads to a city of warm, glowing lights; a few small, blurry townspeople in festive clothes stand far behind, and single orange petals float in the air. The character stands on the bridge a few steps from a low camera, the whole body in view from the hair to the shoes, turned three-quarters to the camera, eyes open, with a calm, gentle expression. Their shoes sink a little into the glowing petals, which glow brighter around them. Vertical 9:16. Exactly one character: an original 3D animated version of this person, not an existing film or cartoon character. No skulls, no skeletons, no face paint, no wings, no halo. No text, no letters, no logos, no watermark, no frame. The face is always the warm 3D animated film face described above, never a photo face: the identity rules below apply to the 3D character's face shape, eyes, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, wrinkles, hair, facial hair, glasses and clothes.

Step 2 · Video prompt

One continuous shot in a warm 3D animated film style, like a scene from a modern animated feature film, at night on the bridge of glowing orange marigold petals. Keep the character's face, hair, age, clothes and colors, and the bridge, the night sky and the city lights, exactly as in the image, in the same 3D animated look. 0-3 s: the camera is low, at the height of their knees, and moves slowly back: the character takes their first slow, careful steps forward on the bridge; each step sinks softly into the petals and lights a warm golden glow under the shoe. 3-5 s: they slow down, look down at the glowing petals with wonder and bend their knees to crouch; the camera rises gently with them. 5-7 s: crouching, they brush the petals with both hands and gather a big handful of glowing marigold petals in their cupped hands. 7-10 s: still crouching, they lift the glowing petals to their chest and look at them with a soft, moved smile; a few glowing petals lift off their hands and drift up into the night air like sparks. The character's face stays the same in every frame, large, sharp and warmly lit. Calm, gentle movements, never rushed. The small townspeople stay blurry far behind. Audio: a soft, warm original instrumental tune on a gentle guitar, the soft rustle of petals and a quiet night breeze; no singing, no speech. Exactly one character near the camera. No cuts, no extra hands or fingers, no morphing. No skulls, no skeletons, no face paint. No text, no subtitles, no logos, no watermark.

How many credits does it cost?

You pay per video in credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. The one-tap price covers the scene photo and the video, charged once. One video is 56 credits, so the smallest one-time pack that covers it is $9.99 for 100 credits, with no subscription. The cheaper models are there if you run the prompts by hand in AI Video.

What happens in the marigold bridge video

Your clip follows the story of the template, in 10 seconds:

SecondsWhat happens
0 to 3Your loved one, as a warm 3D animated character, takes their first slow steps onto the bridge. Each step lights a golden glow in the petals.
3 to 5They slow down, look at the glowing petals with wonder and crouch.
5 to 7They gather a big handful of glowing marigold petals in both hands.
7 to 10They lift the petals to their chest with a soft smile, and the petals drift up into the night like sparks.

It is made in two steps. First AI turns your photo into a 3D animated picture of your loved one on the bridge, with their own face, hair and clothes. Then the best AI video models available animate that picture, with soft original guitar music. Standard costs fewer credits; Best uses a stronger video model and keeps the face and the hands steadier. The exact price shows on the Generate button before you spend anything, and the video waits in My videos when it is ready. You write no prompt.

The ending with the real photo. The template posts end on the person's real photo in a golden frame on an altar of marigolds and candles. Your clip ends on the bridge. To end it like the posts, add their photo after the clip in any video editor, or post the clip and the photo together.

No lo dejen solito: what the words mean

"No lo dejen solito" means "don't leave him alone". The full line, "Es su primera vez cruzando el puente de cempasúchil", means "It's his first time crossing the marigold bridge": the person died in the last year, and this is su primer Día de Muertos, their first Day of the Dead. For a woman, posts write "no la dejen solita"; others write "no me lo dejen solito" or "no lo dejen solo", and the 2025 posts said "es su primer Día de Muertos". Some write to the person instead: "primer Día de Muertos sin ti", the first Day of the Dead without you.

The marigold bridge meaning. In Mexican belief, the bright color and scent of the cempasúchil guide the souls from the land of the dead, the Mictlán, back to their families for one night. Families lay petals in a path up to the ofrenda. That is what the puente de flores de cempasúchil, or puente de pétalos de cempasúchil, stands for: the way home. Que significa el puente de cempasúchil? It is a symbol of that path, not an old legend with a fixed text: the leyenda del puente de cempasúchil that people search for is this belief, told in many ways. Some posts call it the puente de cempasúchil en el cielo, the bridge in the sky.

The comments under the trend show what it means to people: thousands name a father, a grandmother or a friend who will cross for the first time this year, and ask the others to walk with them.

How to share it, gently

These videos are about love and loss. A few things help:

  • Talk to your family first if the person was theirs too. Some find the video comforting; others need more time.
  • Follow your family's custom. Some families put a photo of someone who died this year on the ofrenda at once; others wait until the next year.
  • Keep the platform's AI label on. The video is an AI creation, not a memory.
  • Post on the days. The Day of the Dead is on 1 and 2 November, a Sunday and a Monday in 2026, and many families start on 31 October. Pets have their own day, 27 October.

Hashtags (TikTok, 23 October 2026): #diademuertos (4.5 million videos), #puentedecempasúchil (7.1 million views), #primerdiademuertos (10.2 million views) and #recuerdame. Spanish tutorials call it the plantilla puente de cempasúchil on CapCut; a puente de cempasúchil IA video made here needs no CapCut template. Sound: your video has soft original guitar music. On TikTok you can add the trend's sound when you post.

FAQ

Marigold Bridge AI trend questions

What is the marigold bridge AI trend?
It is a Día de Muertos trend from Mexico, started on 20 October 2026: a photo of someone who died becomes a short 3D animated clip of their first time on the glowing marigold bridge. The posts ask the others "no lo dejen solito", don't leave him alone, because it is their first Day of the Dead.
How do I make the marigold bridge AI video?
Press "Create your own", add one clear photo of your loved one and press Generate. The button shows the price first. You get a 10-second vertical video in My videos, with no CapCut template and no prompt to write.
What does "No lo dejen solito, es su primera vez cruzando el puente de cempasúchil" mean?
It means "Don't leave him alone, it's his first time crossing the marigold bridge." It is the caption of the trend's first post, about someone who died in the last year and comes home for the first time on the Day of the Dead.
What is the meaning of the marigold bridge?
It is the path of orange cempasúchil petals that is said to guide the souls of the dead home to their families on 1 and 2 November. The marigold bridge meaning in this trend is the same: on Día de los Muertos, the person you miss crosses it to visit.
Is this a Day of the Dead AI video?
Yes. It is a Day of the Dead AI video for a person: AI turns one photo into a 3D animated picture and then a short video of their first Día de Muertos. In Spanish it is a video Día de Muertos IA, a Día de Muertos video animado made with IA, which is Spanish for AI.
Can I make an AI video of a deceased loved one with an old photo?
Yes. Photograph the print flat with no glare, so the face is sharp. The AI video of your deceased loved one shows them in warm, natural colors, at the age they are in the photo. It is an AI memorial video, not a real memory.
Can I make it for my mom, my grandpa or a friend?
Yes, for any adult you miss: a parent, a grandparent, a partner, a sibling or a friend. Use one photo of one person. For two people, like your grandparents, make one video for each.
Can I make it for my pet?
This page is for people. For a dog or a cat, use [Day of the Dead pet](/templates/ai-day-of-the-dead-pet): it has a lifelike marigold bridge version and a 3D animated land of the dead version, made for pet photos.
Can the video end with their real photo, like the posts?
Not inside the clip: it ends on the bridge. Add their photo after the clip in any video editor, or post the clip and the photo together. Many posts put the real photo in a golden frame with marigolds and candles.
Which prompt does this template use?
The CapCut template is closed, and no creator shared a prompt. So the prompts follow the template's own story, beat by beat: the first steps on the glowing petals, the crouch, the handful of petals that drift into the night. You write nothing yourself.
Is it okay to make a video of someone who has passed away?
It is a personal choice. Talk to your family first, use a photo they are comfortable with, and keep the video private if you are unsure. For a hug with someone you miss, see [Heaven Hug](/templates/ai-heaven-reunion-hug).
Where can I find the marigold bridge video on TikTok?
Search #puentedecempasúchil or the caption "es su primera vez cruzando el puente de cempasúchil". The trend's first marigold bridge TikTok post, by @ia_chiomora, is linked in the timeline above.
When is the first day of the Day of the Dead in 2026?
The Day of the Dead is on 1 and 2 November, a Sunday and a Monday in 2026. Many families set up the ofrenda by 31 October, and the first day of the dead for pets is 27 October.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
It is 10 seconds, vertical 9:16, with soft original guitar music, the rustle of the petals and no talking. The template's own sound is not included. On TikTok you can add it when you post.
Does the marigold bridge video cost credits?
Yes. The create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. Standard costs less than Best. If a video fails, the credits come back.
Are my photos private?
Yes. MakeViral does not post your photo or the result anywhere or show them to other users. The video goes to your private My videos page, and you can delete it there at any time.
