Fake Text Message Video Generator

A texting story video is a short vertical clip that tells a story through a fake text conversation. The messages appear one at a time in the top half of the screen. Gameplay footage fills the bottom. Two AI voices read the messages aloud as they land, one voice per person, so the thread plays like a scene instead of a screenshot.

The stories are short by design: 20 to 40 seconds, 12 to 20 messages, one conflict and one turn. The format started as screen recordings of real conversations and became a staple of short-form feeds because it is cheap to make, easy to read and almost impossible to stop halfway.

The three parts of the format

• The chat layer. Contact name, avatar and message bubbles, sized to be readable on a phone held at arm's length.
• The voice layer. One voice for each side of the conversation, timed so the next bubble lands the moment the current line finishes.
• The background layer. A vertical gameplay clip that carries the eye between messages without competing with them.

Three things happen in the first two seconds, and all of them work in your favor.

It looks private. A message thread reads as something you were not supposed to see. That is a stronger pull than any "wait for it" caption, because curiosity does the work instead of a promise.

It is readable without sound. A large share of short-form viewing happens muted. A voiceover video is dead in silence. A text thread is not: the bubbles carry the whole story, and the voices are a bonus for the people who have sound on.

It never stops moving. Each new bubble is a small event. The viewer's eye gets a reason to stay every two seconds, and the gameplay underneath absorbs the restless part of attention that would otherwise swipe.

The cost of all this is that the format is unforgiving about pace. A thread that takes four messages to reach the conflict has already lost. Put the strangest line first.

You describe the exchange. The generator writes it, voices it, times it and renders it over gameplay.

1. Give it the idea. Type the situation ("a friend texts me from my own wedding venue at 2am") or paste a product URL when the conversation has to end on a product.
2. Steer it with a short prompt. An optional box of up to 500 characters takes instructions like "make it horror", "keep it under 12 messages" or "target Gen Z". It is direction, not a script: the AI writes every line.
3. The AI writes the thread. Contact name, avatar, emoji and the full message list, marked by speaker. If the draft is flat, regenerate: it is a new conversation each time.
4. Each side gets its own voice. The generator assigns one voice per person from a set of nine AI voices, four female and five male, and keeps that voice for the whole conversation. Casual, hyped, calm and professional reads are all in the set.
5. Bubbles are timed to the audio. A message appears, its line is read, the next message lands as the audio ends. No dead air, no guessing at timing.
6. Gameplay is placed behind it. A vertical clip from the background library, different on each render.
7. Download the 9:16 file. Watermark-free and ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

One video costs 10 credits and a bulk run queues up to 10 per format and 50 per run, so 500 credits is about 50 videos. Generate a batch, read the first two messages of each, and keep only the ones you would not scroll past.

A text story is a joke structure wearing a drama costume. Setup, escalation, turn, payoff. The turn is the whole reason anyone watches to the end. The AI writes the lines, so these are the things to ask it for, and the things to check in the draft before you spend a render on it.

Rules that make the twist land

• Plant the clue early. The turn should be surprising and, in hindsight, obvious. Put the detail in message three and pay it off in message twelve.
• Keep messages short. Six to twelve words. Long bubbles read like an essay and break the rhythm.
• Write like a person texts. Lowercase, typos, double messages, "??", a single "k". Perfect grammar is the fastest way to look fake.
• Let the other side go quiet. Three unanswered messages in a row create more tension than any line of dialogue.
• End on the reaction, not the explanation. The viewer finishing the story in their own head is what earns the comment.

A worked example: "hey are you home?" / "no, at my sister's, why" / "your car is in the driveway" / "..." / "and the lights just went on upstairs". Five messages, one clue, one turn, no explanation.

The format carries any story that can be told in dialogue. These five niches carry it best.

For product threads, keep the pitch to one message and put the reason in the reply. "just get [product]" is an ad. "i stopped paying for three of those apps after i found it" is a recommendation. Only one of those gets shared.

Drop any of these into the idea box as the premise and let the generator write the thread.

1. Wrong number, right person. A stranger texts about a surprise party, and the details match your life exactly.
2. The car in the driveway. Someone is home who should not be.
3. The group chat leak. A message about you lands in the chat you are in.
4. The landlord's inspection. Polite messages that get less polite as the tenant keeps saying no.
5. The ex on the wedding day. One message at 6am, answered at 6:04.
6. The delivery driver. Photo updates from an address that is not yours.
7. The job offer. A recruiter's pitch that reveals which company it is on message nine.
8. The babysitter. Everything is fine, until one small thing is not.
9. The refund request. A customer and a store, both perfectly polite, one of them lying.
10. The app recommendation. A friend explains why they canceled three subscriptions this month.

Run each as its own video. Two stories in one thread halves both.

The length problem, and the fix

A 30-second text story is the right length for retention and the wrong length for TikTok Creator Rewards, which only counts videos over one minute. Two ways around it: run a two-part thread that crosses 60 seconds, or keep the short version for TikTok reach and put your longer Reddit story videos in the same account for the payable views.

Reported Shorts RPM in 2026 sits at roughly $0.01 to $0.05 per 1,000 views for most channels, according to Mediacube's Shorts RPM breakdown (checked September 2026). • A slow first bubble. "hey" / "what's up" / "you busy?" is three messages of nothing. Open on the strange line.
• Walls of text. If a bubble needs two lines on a phone, cut it in half.
• Perfect punctuation. Nobody types like that at 2am. Lowercase and a missing apostrophe read as real.
• Bubbles in the interface zone. Keep the thread in the middle of the frame. The bottom and right edges are covered by platform buttons.
• A twist with no clue. A turn that comes from nowhere feels like a cheat, and cheated viewers do not comment.
• Explaining the ending. Stop at the reaction.
• Real people. Never use a real name, number, photo or handle, even as a joke. That is harassment risk, not a creative choice.
• Identical uploads. YouTube's monetization policies require content that is not "mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative" (channel monetization policies, checked September 2026). Vary the voices, the backgrounds and the story shape.
• No AI label on TikTok. TikTok asks creators to disclose realistic AI-generated content and labels some uploads itself (TikTok on AI content labels).
