Original reel by @udinu281, 6 s

The original reel by @udinu281 (28 October 2026, Instagram): a dark-red SUV drifts in on a desert lot at sunset, she leans out of the window and blows out the candles. Shown up to the candles going out, without the black-and-white ending with her age; the Desert drift version copies this reel with your face.

Which photo works best?

Upload one clear photo of yourself (an adult): you play the driver.

  • The face: big, sharp and turned to the camera, in good light. Head and shoulders or waist up works best, because the last seconds are a close-up of your face over the candles.
  • Your hair counts: it blows in the wind as you lean out, so its color, length and style come from your photo.
  • Clothes: Desert drift keeps the black top of the reel and City night the black top and fur coat; with your own car, you wear the clothes from your photo.
  • Your own car (2nd photo): the whole car, from the side or the front three-quarter, in daylight, with nothing in front of it.
  • A pet: one sharp photo of the face and body, eyes open.
  • No sunglasses, mask or hat over the face, and only one person in the photo. Use your own photo, or one of an adult friend who said yes.

Where did the Birthday Car trend start?

The birthday car trend started as an AI birthday video. On 5 October 2026 @mira__98kr, a Russian-speaking creator of AI photo shoots, posted a reel where a black SUV pulls up on a wet city street at dusk, she leans out of the window, blows out the candles, and the frame fades to black and white with "Happy Birthday" in white script. Instagram labels it AI content; by 28 October it had 38,806 likes and 6,156 comments. A Turkish TikTok tutorial for the car candle trend (arabada mum üfleme trendi, 9 October, 161,700 views) runs it as a CapCut AI template.

The biggest version so far came on 28 October 2026: @udinu281, a travel and lifestyle creator, posted a dark-red SUV that drifts in through tire smoke on a desert lot at sunset, set to It's Raining Men. She leans out, blows out the candles, and the clip freezes in black and white with "Hello 43". It had 94,195 likes in 15 hours. People search for it as a drift birthday cake, a drift car birthday cake, a birthday cake drift car or a car birthday reel. For the motorbike version, see the biker birthday cake trend.

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same empty desert lot with dark tire marks on the ground and a low sunset sky, the same one handheld first-person camera of the friend who holds the cake with both hands at the bottom of the frame, the same timing and moves, the same two-tier white buttercream birthday cake with piped edges and about twenty tall thin lit candles, the same dark-red boxy luxury SUV that drifts in with tire smoke, and the same switch to a black-and-white freeze right after the candles go out. The ONLY change: the driver in the black turtleneck top, who leans out of the driver's window and blows out the candles, is now the person in [Image 1]. The driver = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY frame where the driver shows: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles), exactly as in the photo. The hair that blows in the wind is the hair of [Image 1]: its color, length and style. NO long dark hair unless [Image 1] shows it. The driver keeps the black turtleneck top from the video. The same real person in every frame, so their friends recognize them at once, also while they lean out with hair across the face, while they blow, and in the black-and-white freeze. Never morph, never drift back to the original woman's face. THE MOVES, second by second, exactly as in [Video 1]: 00:00-00:02: two hands hold the cake close to the camera, the candles burn, far away the vehicle comes toward us across the lot, leaving white tire smoke. 00:02-00:03: the vehicle drifts in fast and swings sideways in a cloud of tire smoke. 00:03-00:04: it slides past just behind the cake; the driver is visible at the wheel through the open window. 00:04-00:05: it stops sideways right behind the cake, the open driver's window just above the candles; the driver leans out of the window. 00:05-00:06: the driver leans further out toward the camera, the hair blowing in the wind, and blows out all the candles at once; thin white smoke rises. 00:06-00:07.8: the picture turns black and white and freezes on that moment. Real live-action phone footage at golden hour, clear face, no distortion. Avoid: any text, captions, names, numbers or titles over the picture, letters on the cake, brand badges, logos or lettering on the vehicle, a readable number plate, watermarks, extra people, morphing, facial distortion. Anatomy rules: one head only, on the driver's own shoulders. Exactly one person in the vehicle, plus the two hands of the friend who holds the cake. Two arms and five fingers on each hand. One cake, one vehicle. A face never appears on hands, the vehicle or clothes.

Real live-action phone footage at dusk, clear face, no distortion. Avoid: other text or captions, names or numbers, brand badges, logos or lettering on the SUV, a readable number plate, watermarks, extra people, morphing, facial distortion. What happens in the birthday car video?

The Desert drift version copies the real reel shot for shot, with your face and hair in it. One handheld shot, about 8 seconds, filmed from the eyes of the friend who holds the cake:

TimeWhat happens
0 to 2 sTwo hands hold a two-tier white birthday cake with about twenty lit candles; far away, a dark-red SUV comes across the desert lot, leaving tire smoke
2 to 4 sThe SUV drifts in and slides sideways past the cake, you at the wheel
4 to 5 sIt stops right behind the cake and you lean out of the driver's window
5 to 6 sYou lean toward the camera, hair flying, and blow out all the candles
6 to 8 sThe picture turns black and white and freezes

How MakeViral makes it: top-quality AI video models, including Seedance 2.5, edit the real reel and swap the driver for the person in your photo, at 720p. The reel's song goes back on after the run. A run takes 5 to 15 minutes, and the Generate button shows the exact price before you spend anything. Every run is a new take, so results differ a little.

The four versions: Desert drift, City night, your own car and your pet

VersionPhotosWhat you get
Desert drift1: youThe viral desert reel: you drift in in a dark-red SUV at sunset, lean out and blow out the candles, black-and-white freeze. About 8 s, with It's Raining Men.
City night1: youThe first car reel of the trend: a black SUV pulls up on a wet city street at dusk, you lower the window, lean out and blow, and Happy Birthday writes in, in white script. 7 s, with the reel's own music.
You + your car2: you, then your carThe desert drift with your own car instead of the SUV. A new idea we have not tested much yet: an unusual car shape can come out a little different.
Pet1: your petYour dog or cat at the wheel: it puts its head out of the window, ears flying, and blows out the candles. Made by AI.

Upload a pet photo on a people version and MakeViral moves it to the Pet version by itself.

Where is the Hello 43 text, and how do I add my age?

The reel ends with "Hello 43" in white script: 43 is the creator's own new age. That is wrong for everyone else, and the AI model copies any text it sees in the reel, so our Desert drift version ends on the black-and-white freeze with no text. Add "Hello 30", your name or "Happy birthday to me" as a text layer in TikTok, Instagram or CapCut after you download it: place it in the middle of the frame, over the last two seconds, in a white script font, and it looks like the original.

Want the words in the clip already? The City night version keeps the Happy Birthday script of the first reel.

FAQ

Birthday Car trend questions

What is the birthday car trend?
It is a birthday cake POV reel from Instagram: a friend holds a cake with lit candles, a car pulls up or drifts in right behind it, the driver leans out of the window and blows out the candles, and the clip freezes in black and white. The first version came out on 5 October 2026; the desert drift version went viral on 28 October 2026. On MakeViral you add one photo and you are the driver.
How do I make a drift birthday cake video with AI?
Upload one clear photo of yourself and press Generate. MakeViral copies the drift car birthday cake reel with your face and hair and gives you a vertical clip of about 8 seconds with the song, ready to post. No car, no cake and no filming needed.
Is there a prompt for the birthday car trend?
No public one. The first creator sends her method only by private message, other creators sell it in Telegram, and the tutorials use a CapCut AI template that shows no prompt (checked on 28 October 2026). You need no prompt here: our versions copy the trend reels themselves, with your face in them.
Can I use my own car in the birthday car reel?
Yes. Pick You + your car and upload two photos: you first, then your car. Your car drifts in on the desert lot, you lean out of its window and blow out the candles. It is new and less tested than the other versions, so a very unusual car shape can come out a little different.
Is this a happy birthday car video I can post on TikTok?
Yes. It started on Instagram, but the clip is vertical 9:16, so your happy birthday car video works on TikTok, Reels and Shorts alike. Birthday clips are a steady birthday trend TikTok pushes every day, and this one is a car birthday video with a POV twist. The reel works as a birthday car video for yourself, a car birthday celebration video for a friend who loves cars, or a happy birthday drift car clip you send as a drift car happy birthday wish.
Can I blow out candles from car window with my pet?
Yes. The Pet version puts your dog or cat at the wheel: it pushes its head out of the window, ears flying, and blows out the candles from the car. It is made by AI. Never put a real pet near candles or in a drifting car.
What song is in the birthday car trend?
The desert drift reel uses It's Raining Men by The Weather Girls, and your Desert drift video comes with it. The same song also runs the champagne pop version of the it's raining men birthday trend: see the [champagne birthday trend](/templates/champagne-birthday-ai-trend).
Is the birthday car reel AI or real?
The first car reel, by @mira__98kr, is labeled AI content on Instagram, and the format spread as an AI template. The desert drift reel carries no AI label. Your version is an AI birthday video made from your photo: MakeViral works as an AI birthday video generator, so you need no car and no drift.
How long does it take, and what does it cost?
A run takes 5 to 15 minutes. The Generate button shows the exact credit price before you spend anything. If a run fails, the credits come back.
