Which photo works best?

Save yourself (1 photo): one clear photo of you alone, from the waist up, face to the camera, in good light. The video makes two of you from it: the scared you in dark clothes and wet hair, and the calm you in a white shirt.

Two photos: photo 1 is the one on the cliff, photo 2 is the rescuer. Use an older photo of you and a new one (the old me, new me story), or you and a friend. Both must be adults.

Pet: one clear photo of your cat or dog, the whole face in view. It plays both roles.

  • Sharp faces, no sunglasses, no strong filters. A face that is small or turned away comes out less like you.
  • One person per photo. Crop a group photo first.
  • An old print is fine: photograph it flat, with no glare.

Where did the Save Yourself trend start?

The trend started on TikTok in Kazakhstan and Russia on 2 September 2026. That evening the Kazakh AI creator @unusualaisulu posted the first big one: she clings to a black rock in a stormy sea, and a second version of her, in a black suit, pulls her up and holds her. The lines read "Никто тебя не спасет... кроме тебя самой. Спаси себя!" ("Nobody will save you... except yourself. Save yourself!"). It had 463,400 views by 7 November. In Russian the trend is also called видео погружение.

Copies followed within days, many set to the track "Погружение" by Horus and Oxxxymiron. On 10 September a Thai post with the English line "No one will save you, but you" reached 688,300 views, and CapCut tutorials for "Only You Can Save Yourself" began. By October it ran in Arabic as انقذ نفسك and in Southeast Asia as the AI cliff rescue trend, and a 21 October post passed 2.1 million views. AI video apps sold it as a one-click "Save Yourself" preset from September, and in November a "Cliffside Rescue" preset was the most liked item on one AI video site.

Video prompt

Create a realistic vertical video. In the frame: two versions of the same person. The hero hangs at the top edge of a sea cliff. The rescuer comes to help. [Image 1] is the sole face reference for both of them. Filmed like a real film: a high sea cliff of wet black volcanic rock, a rough grey sea with white surf far below, a cold overcast sky, sea spray and wind. Photorealistic, natural skin and natural colors, gentle film grain, not CGI, not a cartoon. Close-ups and medium shots keep the faces large, sharp and well lit. The hero = the person in [Image 1], in every shot: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles). Dark clothes, wet hair stuck to the forehead, scared and exhausted. The rescuer = the same person from [Image 1], in every shot: the same exact face (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles), the same age. A white shirt, dry, neat hair, calm, strong and sure. One face for both: they look like twins, never two strangers. Only the clothes, the wet or dry hair and the mood tell them apart. Never swap their clothes. Each face stays the same from the first frame to the last, so friends recognize them at once. Shot 1 [0-4s]: from above, close: the hero in dark clothes holds on to the top edge of the wet cliff, the sea rages below. A close-up of the face: fear, tiredness, heavy breathing. Shot 2 [4-8s]: one hand slips. The hero holds on with the other hand and reaches up. Cut to a low angle: the rescuer in a white shirt leans down from a safe ledge and firmly grabs the outstretched hand. Shot 3 [8-12s]: the rescuer pulls the hero up onto the ledge. Show their clasped hands and both faces. The moves are smooth and steady, the grip never breaks, and the hands keep the same hold from shot to shot. Shot 4 [12-15s]: a medium shot: both stand on top and hug. The tension gives way to relief, eyes closed. Soft sunlight breaks through the clouds. Both faces in three-quarter view to the camera. Sound: waves, wind and breathing. No dialogue throughout the entire video. No background music. Natural faces, anatomy and movements. Only these two, nobody else. No falling, no injuries, no blood, no extra limbs or hands. No text, no subtitles, no logos, no watermark.

Video prompt

Create a realistic vertical video. In the frame: two people. The hero from [Image 1] hangs at the top edge of a sea cliff. The rescuer from [Image 2] comes to help. Keep each one's look from their own photo: never mix faces, ages or hairstyles. [Image 1] is the sole face reference for the hero; [Image 2] for the rescuer. Filmed like a real film: a high sea cliff of wet black volcanic rock, a rough grey sea with white surf far below, a cold overcast sky, sea spray and wind. Dark clothes, wet hair stuck to the forehead, scared and exhausted. If [Image 1] is an old or black-and-white photo, the hero appears in natural full color with the same face. The rescuer = the person in [Image 2], in every shot: copy the exact face from [Image 2] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles), at the age shown in [Image 2]. A white shirt, calm, strong and sure. If an image shows an animal, that one is that animal, with its own face, fur, markings and size, never a person. Never blend their faces, never swap their clothes. They look like twins. The scared one has damp, spiky fur from the spray; the calm one has dry, fluffy fur. Both stay animals on four legs: they never talk and never stand like people. Shot 1 [0-3s]: from above, close: the scared pet scrambles at the top edge of the wet cliff, front paws on the rock, the sea rages below. A close-up of its scared face. Shot 2 [3-6s]: one paw slips. Your clip follows the trend's story in 15 seconds, vertical 9:16:

0-4 sFrom above: you hold on to the edge of a wet black sea cliff, the sea rages below. A close-up shows fear, tiredness and heavy breathing.
4-8 sOne hand slips. You hold on with the other and reach up. The camera finds the rescuer leaning down from the ledge, who grabs your hand.
8-12 sThe rescuer pulls you up onto the ledge, hands locked, both faces in view.
12-15 sYou stand at the top and hug. Soft sunlight breaks through the clouds.

The song and how to post it

The trend has no single song. Russian-language posts mostly use "Погружение" by Horus and Oxxxymiron, English template clips use "Brother" by Kodaline, and others use their own sounds. Your video comes with the sound of the waves, the wind and breathing, and no music, as the trend's prompt asks, so you can add the song you like when you post on TikTok or Instagram.

Captions people use: "Nobody is coming to save you", "No one will save you but yourself", "Only you can save yourself", or "What if the person who saves you is you?"

FAQ

Save Yourself trend questions

What is the Save Yourself trend?
It is an AI video trend: you hang from a sea cliff above a stormy sea, and another version of you, calm and strong, reaches down, pulls you up and hugs you. The idea is that nobody is coming to save you, so you save yourself. It started on TikTok in Kazakhstan and Russia on 2 September 2026.
How do I make the Save Yourself AI video?
Press "Create your own", pick Save yourself, add one clear photo of you and press Generate. The button shows the price first. You get a 15-second vertical save yourself AI video in My videos. That is how to make the save yourself trend with no app, template or prompt.
Can I use one photo for both of me?
Yes. The Save yourself version makes both people from one photo: the same face, once scared in dark clothes with wet hair, once calm in a white shirt. Most save yourself AI trend posts, the saving myself AI clips, use one person in both roles like this.
Can I use an old photo and a new photo, or a friend?
Yes, pick Two photos. Photo 1 is the one on the cliff, photo 2 is the rescuer. An older photo of you as an adult and a recent one tell the old me, new me story; a friend's photo makes them the one who saves you. Both people must be adults.
Can I save my younger self?
Yes, as an adult: use an older adult photo of you as photo 1 and a recent one as photo 2, and your younger self is the one on the cliff. To save your younger self as a child, this template is not the right one: it takes adult photos only.
What is the AI cliff rescue trend?
It is the same clip under another name. CapCut tutorials in Southeast Asia call it the AI cliff rescue trend, and AI video sites call it Cliff Rescue or Cliffside Rescue, a cliffside self rescue: a person is pulled up from the edge of a sea cliff and the two hug. On this page the cliff rescue AI video, an AI video of you saving yourself from a cliff, comes from your own photo.
What does "nobody is coming to save you" mean in the trend?
It is the message of the clip: no one will save you but yourself. The first posts used the Russian line "Никто тебя не спасет, кроме тебя" ("Nobody will save you except you") and ended on "Спаси себя!" ("Save yourself!"). English posts write "Only you can save yourself" or "No one will save you but you".
Is it on TikTok?
Yes. The save yourself trend on TikTok started on 2 September 2026, and by November the save yourself tiktok posts, tagged #saveyourselftrend, #savingmyself and #cliffrescue, ran in Russian, Kazakh, Thai, Arabic, Spanish and English. Tutorial captions also call it the save yourself cliff rescue.
Do I need a CapCut template or an AI app preset?
No. The save yourself CapCut template and the cliff rescue CapCut template on TikTok are closed effects, and AI sites sell their own presets. Here you add your photo and press Generate; it runs in your browser.
Which prompt does this template use?
No creator shared the first prompt, so we use the one a Russian magazine published for the trend on 21 September 2026, word for word in English: two versions of one person, a wet sea cliff, a slipping hand, a firm grip, the pull up and the hug in four beats of about 4 seconds. We added lines that keep each face like the photo. It is the save yourself AI prompt and the cliff rescue prompt in one, so you write no save yourself prompt yourself.
Which song is used in the Save Yourself trend?
There is no single save yourself song. Russian-language posts mostly use "Погружение" by Horus and Oxxxymiron, and English template clips use "Brother" by Kodaline. Your video has the sound of the sea, the wind and breathing, with no music, so you can add your song when you post.
What is the trend called in other languages?
In Russian it is *спаси себя* ("save yourself"), *видео погружение* ("immersion video") or *никто тебя не спасет кроме тебя*; in Arabic *انقذ نفسك*; in Spanish posts *sálvate a ti misma*. Some English posts call it you vs you AI.
Can I make it with my pet?
Yes. Pick Pet and add one photo of your cat or dog. Your pet plays both roles: the scared one scrambles at the edge of the cliff, and the calm one pulls it up by the scruff and cuddles it, in a 10-second video.
How long is the video, and does it have sound?
The Save yourself and Two photos versions are 15 seconds, the Pet version 10 seconds, all vertical 9:16 at 720p. The sound is made with the video: waves, wind and breathing, with no talking and no music.
Does it cost credits?
Yes. The create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. If a video fails, the credits come back.
Are my photos private?
Yes. MakeViral does not post your photos or the result anywhere or show them to other users. The video goes to your private My videos page, and you can delete it there at any time.
