The Stateside dance is the TikTok routine to PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson's "Stateside": hands on the head, hip pops, a kick and a big arm raise, all on the "boots, that's my ego boost" line. It went viral in winter 2025 and is back as a Stateside AI dance. You need one photo, and your clip comes with the song.

Which photo works best?

You need one photo.

  • Human: you alone, standing, head to toes in view, face sharp and to the camera. The dance has kicks and arm raises, so a full-body photo gives the best legs and arms. Your clothes come from your photo.
  • Pet: a sharp photo with the whole animal in view, from ears to paws. Fur colors and markings come from the photo.
  • Good light, no sunglasses and no hat over the face. A photo where your face is small or far away can come out looking less like you.
  • Use your own photo, a photo of an adult who said yes, or your own pet. Never a celebrity or a stranger.

Where did the Stateside Dance trend start?

The dance comes from the remix "Stateside + Zara Larsson", which came out on 10 October 2025 and as a single on 16 January 2026. Most reels of the routine credit the choreography to the Los Angeles dancer Brandt Ski ("dc: @brandt ski").

In December 2025 the Stateside TikTok dance took off. A tutorial by @jasminetxo on 18 December reached 12.7 million views, and a solo reel by @my_lilpriv on 23 December reached 17.9 million. On 19 January 2026 a duo version by @_juliaaanki passed 15.3 million views. In February the figure skater Alysa Liu skated her Winter Olympics gala routine to the remix, and the song reached a new crowd.

Pets joined in too: on 23 February an AI-made golden puppy by @wagsruff danced the routine and reached 2.5 million views. On 2 November 2026 #statesidedance held 1,696 TikTok videos and 39.2 million views. At the end of October 2026 AI template sites added Stateside templates, so the Stateside dance trend is back as a Stateside AI trend, almost a year after its peak.

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same bright room with the white arched doorway, the warm wooden floor and the plants, the same fixed phone camera at chest height, the same framing from head to shoes, the same timing and the same dance moves, one continuous shot. The ONLY change: the dancer in the baseball cap, white T-shirt and wide light-blue jeans is now the person in [Image 1]. The dancer = the person in [Image 1], in EVERY frame: copy the exact face from [Image 1]: the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles exactly as in the photo. The dancer in the baseball cap becomes the person in [Image 1], looking exactly as in [Image 1] in every shot, including every turn, every kick and every moment the face comes close, and never wearing the cap, the white T-shirt or the wide jeans from the video unless [Image 1] shows them. The dancer wears the clothes from [Image 1]; if [Image 1] shows only the head or the upper body, invent the rest so it matches naturally. A real, photorealistic person, with no team name or number on their clothes. The same real person in every frame, from the first second to the last, so their friends instantly recognize them. Never morph, never drift back to the original dancer's face. NO cap and NO hat unless [Image 1] shows one. NO moustache unless [Image 1] shows one. No tattoos unless [Image 1] shows them. Keep every movement, every step of the dance, every lip movement, every camera move and the timing exactly as in [Video 1]. The dance, matching the reference second by second, on the beat: 0-1 s: faces the camera, a small bounce, hands at the chest. 1-2.5 s: steps to the side with one arm swinging out, a quarter turn. 2.5-3 s: a quick step out and a kick back. 3-4.5 s: both hands on top of the head, then elbows out and a hip pop. 4.5-7 s: hand flicks by the face and shoulder bounces, stepping on the beat. 7-8.5 s: one hand to the head, then the other arm raised high. 8.5-10 s: a knee lift and a kick, then the arms open wide. 10-12.5 s: steps and shoulder rolls, hands near the chest. 12.5-14 s: one arm raised high above the head for the finish. Do not invent additional moves. Keep the room unchanged. Keep the face clearly lit. Anatomy rules: one head only, on the dancer's shoulders. A face never appears on knees, legs, hands or clothes. Two arms, two hands, five fingers on each hand. Exactly one person. Natural balance, stable ground contact. No text, captions, logos or watermark. No dialogue throughout the entire video. No background music.

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same plain light grey studio with the soft shadow on the floor, the same fixed camera, framing, timing and dance moves, one continuous shot. The ONLY change: the puppy who dances upright on its hind legs is now the pet in [Image 1]. The dancer = the pet in [Image 1], whole body, in every frame: the same species and breed, head shape, muzzle, eyes, ears, fur colors, fur length, markings and body shape as in [Image 1], with the natural body volume and proportions of that animal: never flattened, squashed, stretched or merged with anything, so its owner instantly recognizes it, also in the close moments. It keeps its own real look from [Image 1], with real fur, never a cartoon puppy. Never drift back to the puppy of the original video: not the coat of the puppy in the video, no golden fluffy fur unless [Image 1] shows it. It stands upright on its hind legs like a person the whole time, and its mouth opens and closes as in [Video 1]. If [Image 1] shows a cat or another animal, that animal dances in the same place with the same moves. Keep every movement, every step of the dance and the timing exactly as in [Video 1]. The dance, matching the reference second by second, on the beat: 0-1 s: faces the camera, front paws by its cheeks, mouth open as if singing. 1-2 s: a quick turn to the side and back. 2-4 s: little hops with the front paws up by its head, then at its chest. 4-5.5 s: a wide stance, front paws out, then one paw to its face. 5.5-7.5 s: leans and hops to the side, turning side-on. 7.5-9 s: one front paw raised high, a turn away and back. 9-12 s: sways and leans with the front paws crossed at its chest. 12-15 s: one front paw raised high above its head, then both paws by its face to the end. Do not invent additional moves. Keep the studio unchanged. Anatomy rules: one head only, one tail. Two hind legs on the floor and two front legs, no extra legs or paws, no human hands. Natural balance, stable ground contact. No text, no logos, no watermark, no people, no extra animals. No dialogue throughout the entire video. No background music.

You pay per video in credits, and the create page shows the exact price on the Generate button before you spend anything. The one-tap price covers the video, made in one step from your photos and the trend clip, charged once. Each version has its own price: Human 213 credits, Pet 228 credits. What are the Stateside dance moves, second by second?

The Human version copies a real Stateside dance video from the trend, one continuous shot with a fixed camera, and plays it with the person from your photo. The Stateside dance choreography goes like this:

TimeWhat you do
0 to 1 sFace the camera, a small bounce, hands at the chest.
1 to 2.5 sStep to the side with one arm swinging out, a quarter turn.
2.5 to 3 sA quick step out and a kick back.
3 to 4.5 sBoth hands on top of the head, then elbows out and a hip pop.
4.5 to 7 sHand flicks by the face and shoulder bounces on the beat.
7 to 8.5 sOne hand to the head, then the other arm raised high.
8.5 to 10 sA knee lift and a kick, then the arms open wide.
10 to 14 sSteps and shoulder rolls, then one arm high above the head for the finish.

That is the whole Stateside dance step by step. A Stateside dance tutorial on TikTok, often slowed down and mirrored, teaches the same moves; is the Stateside dance hard? The quick hand flicks are the tricky part, which is why many people make the Stateside dance AI version instead.

Which sound, caption and hashtags fit the Stateside dance?

Your clip comes with the sound of the reel it copies: "Stateside + Zara Larsson" by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, the song the whole trend dances to, put back on after the run, so it is ready to post. You can turn it off on the result screen. The song belongs to its owners, and MakeViral gives you no rights to it. Check the music rules of the platform before you use the clip in an ad or a paid post.

FAQ

Stateside Dance trend questions

What is the Stateside dance?
It is a viral TikTok routine to "Stateside + Zara Larsson" by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson: hands on the head, hip pops, hand flicks, a kick and a big arm raise on the "boots, that's my ego boost" line. Most reels credit the choreography to the dancer Brandt Ski. The biggest solo reel had 17.9 million views by 2 November 2026.
Is the Stateside trend new?
No. The Stateside trend peaked from December 2025 to March 2026. It came back at the end of October 2026, when AI template sites added one-photo Stateside dance templates. This page lets you make that AI version with your own photo or your pet.
Who made up the Stateside dance original choreography?
Most reels credit it to the Los Angeles dancer Brandt Ski with the line "dc: @brandt ski", in reels posted from December 2025. The song is by PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson, and the dance reels credit Brandt Ski for the moves. Search "stateside dance brandt ski" on TikTok to find the credited reels.
Is this the Stateside dance Alysa Liu made famous?
It is the same song. The figure skater Alysa Liu skated her 2026 Winter Olympics gala routine to the remix, which brought a new wave of fans to the song. The TikTok routine on this page is the one most dance reels use, credited to Brandt Ski. Your clip shows you or your pet, never a real athlete.
How do I make the Stateside dance AI video with my photo?
Press "Create your own", pick Human or Pet, and add one photo. Press Generate; the button shows the price first. You get a 14-second (Human) or 15-second (Pet) vertical clip with the song. You write no prompt, and the video waits in My videos when it is ready. It can take several minutes.
Can my dog or cat do the Stateside dance?
Yes, with Pet. Add one sharp photo of your pet, whole body in view. It takes the place of the AI puppy in the viral Stateside dog dance reel on this page: it stands up on its hind legs, puts its paws on its head, sways and raises a paw high, with its own fur and markings.
Can I do the Stateside dance with a friend?
Not on this page yet: Human puts one person into the reel. Make one clip of you and one of your friend, or try the Duo of the [Toc Toc dance](/templates/toc-toc-dance-ai-trend), which puts two people in one clip.
Where does the background of the video come from?
From the reel it copies. Human puts you in the bright room with the white arch of a real Stateside dance video, and Pet puts your pet in the plain grey studio of the puppy reel. Your face, hair and clothes come from your photo.
What sound does my video have?
The Stateside song from the reel it copies, put back on after the run, in time with the moves. You can turn it off on the result screen. The song belongs to its owners, and MakeViral gives you no rights to it.
How long is the video and what format is it?
Human makes 14 seconds and Pet 15 seconds, vertical 9:16, as an MP4 at 720p with the song and no watermark, ready for TikTok, Reels or Shorts.
What prompt does the Stateside AI trend use?
No creator shared a prompt, and the app templates are closed. The one published Stateside dance prompt, from an AI template site, says to keep every movement, every step of the dance, every lip movement, every camera move and the timing exactly as in the video. Our prompts keep those words and point them at a real dance reel. You write no prompt yourself.
Is the dance in the video real?
No. A Stateside AI video is made from a still photo, and you or your pet never did these moves. Use only your own photo, a photo of an adult who agreed, or your own pet, and keep the AI label on when you post.
Is there a Stateside dance tutorial that is easy and slow?
Yes. Many TikTok creators post a slow, mirrored Stateside dance tutorial or tut, and the table above lists the moves second by second, which helps if you want the Stateside dance easy version. Or add one photo and let the AI dance it for you.
Is there a Stateside dance AI video generator or app?
This page is one: an AI video generator that makes the Stateside dance from one photo, with the song and no prompt to write. Some people spell it state side dance; it is the same routine.
What else do people call the Stateside dance?
Many call it the ego boost dance or the boots dance, after the "boots, that's my ego boost" line, and the hashtags call it the Stateside challenge. You will also see the Stateside boots dance and the Stateside dance PinkPantheress routine. They all mean the same moves.
