Dance at the front of a big crew in grey streetwear on a sunlit court, filmed from high above: the crowd routine, then you leading a trio. Or put your pet at the front of a crew of dancing cats. One photo, about 15 seconds, with the song.

Which photo works best?

Upload one photo: of yourself for Human, of your pet for Pet.

  • Human: you take the lead dancer's place, so use a photo of one adult, head to feet or knees up, face to the camera, sharp and in daylight. Your own clothes and hair come from the photo; the grey crew stays, so bright clothes stand out.
  • No sunglasses, no hat and no beauty filter, and nobody else in the photo.
  • Pet: one animal, whole body if you can, face and ears sharp, eyes open. Cats look closest to the clip; dogs and other pets dance upright too.
  • This template is for adults and pets. Use your own photo, an adult who said yes, or your own pet. Never a celebrity, a stranger or a child.

Where did the Lonyo Dance trend start?

"Lonyo!" is a 2025 song by the London artist Bakar. It samples "Summer of Love", the 2000 UK garage hit by Lonyo, and its Spanish hook "mi único anhelo es no volver a pensar en ti" (my only wish is to stop thinking about you). The video, directed by Tom Emmerson with choreography by Joe Grey Adams, Jordan J Funk and Aisha Amuah, came out in August 2025: a drone films a huge after-school dance in a London playground. It had about 559,000 YouTube views by November 2026.

In late October 2026 the Lonyo AI trend began on Instagram: creators ran the video through an AI motion swap and replaced the dancers with film heroes, superheroes and cats, each post captioned "Original MV: Bakar, Lonyo!" with #Lonyo. The cat versions, the Lonyo dancing cats, need no people at all. MakeViral copies two AI-made versions, one with an adult street dance crew and one with cats. The music video itself stars real schoolchildren, so we never use it.

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot. Use [Video 1] as the exact choreography, timing, camera movement, framing and editing source. [Image 1] is the lead dancer. [Image 1] is an appearance reference only, not a pose or a location. The ONLY change: the lead dancer is now the person in [Image 1]. LEAD ([Image 1]) The person from [Image 1] is the featured lead, with his or her own face, hair, body and clothes from the photo, in EVERY shot: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles exactly as in the photo). The same real person in every frame. Never drift back to the face of the lead dancer in the video. NO light blue cardigan, NO mint pleated skirt, NO grey tights, NO pink sneakers and NO copper-red hair unless [Image 1] shows them. The person replaces one dancer per shot and appears only once at a time: - Shot 1 [0-6.75 s], wide crowd shot: the featured dancer near front center, the one in the light blue cardigan in the video. - Shot 2 [6.75-14.2 s], hard cut, three-person passage: the front dancer at the apex of the triangle. CREW Keep the crew exactly as in the video: every other dancer stays the same adult in the same grey streetwear, with the same count, formation and spacing. Every crew dancer is an adult with an adult height and build. No other dancer takes the look of the person in [Image 1]; the lead's look is never copied. REPLACEMENT Fully replace the lead dancer: face, hair, body and clothing. Remove all ties, backpacks and straps. Keep each shot's exact cast count, formation and spacing; empty areas during whip pans stay empty. Transfer every dancer's footwork, jumps, crouches, turns, arm gestures and expressions exactly; the dance stays high-energy. Natural anatomy: one head on the dancer's shoulders, two arms, two hands, two legs each, no fused bodies. Hair and fabric follow the motion without flicker. No added props, bags, text or accessories. LOOK Full-colour footage, not black and white. Keep the source asphalt court with crisp white, blue and yellow painted lines, steep high overhead camera angle and original shot order, transitions and duration. Hard low golden-hour sunlight from the source direction with long, sharp shadows matching each new silhouette, cool teal-grey asphalt, warm skin, filmic contrast and fine grain. Match source focus and motion blur. No children. No text, no logos, no watermark. No dialogue throughout the entire video. No background music.

Its coat is not the coat of the lead dancer in the video. It dances upright on its hind legs like the lead in the video. What happens in the Lonyo dance video, second by second?

Both versions are filmed from a drone high above a sunlit asphalt court, with long golden-hour shadows. Only the lead dancer changes: the moves, the camera, the cuts and the crew come from the clip.

VersionTimeWhat you see
Human0 to 7 sThe wide crowd: about thirty adults in grey streetwear do the routine in sync, you near the front center
Human7 to 14 sThe trio: you lead at the tip of a triangle, two crew dancers behind you
Pet0 to 4 sA close group shot: your pet dances upright in front of the black cats, then the camera zooms out fast
Pet4 to 11 sThe wide crowd of cats, your pet near the front
Pet11 to 15 sThe trio, your pet at the front

Why don't we use the Lonyo music video itself?

The routine comes from Bakar's "Lonyo!" music video, and its dancers are real London schoolchildren. MakeViral never uses a video of real children as a reference or an example. So both versions copy AI-made versions of the routine instead: Human copies a version with an adult street dance crew in grey, and Pet copies the Lonyo cat dance, where only upright cats dance. You get the same routine, camera and song without the children from the video.

Tips to post your Lonyo dance video

  • Post it as a Reel or a TikTok with #Lonyo, plus #DancingCats for the Lonyo pet dance, the tags the trend uses.
  • Your video already has the song. On TikTok you can also pick the "Lonyo!" sound by Bakar so your clip joins the trend's sound page.
  • Both clips are wide, like the original. On a vertical feed they show with bars above and below, or you can crop to the trio part in any editor.
  • A caption like "when the Lonyo! beat hits" or "I lead the crew now" fits the trend.
FAQ

Lonyo Dance trend questions

What is the Lonyo dance trend?
It is the playground routine from the music video of "Lonyo!" by Bakar (August 2025). Since late October 2026 the Lonyo AI trend swaps its dancers for other characters with AI; the Lonyo cat dance puts upright cats on the court. This page puts you at the front of an adult street dance crew, or your pet at the front of the cat crew.
What song is in the Lonyo AI dance?
"Lonyo!" by Bakar, which people also search as "Lonyo Bakar". It samples "Summer of Love" by Lonyo (2000), which is why people also search "Lonyo Summer of Love". The Spanish line you hear is "mi único anhelo es no volver a pensar en ti", so some people look for it as "mi unico anhelo Bakar". Your video comes with the song, and you can turn it off on the result screen.
Can I put myself in the Bakar Lonyo music video?
Not into the video itself: the Bakar Lonyo music video stars real schoolchildren, and MakeViral never copies or swaps children. Human copies an AI-made version of the same routine with an adult crew in grey streetwear, and you take the lead dancer's place, in your own clothes, with the song.
Which pets work best for the Lonyo cat dance?
Cats look closest to the clip, because every dancer in it is an upright cat. Dogs, rabbits and other pets work too: they dance upright with their own face and fur. A ginger-and-white cat looks a lot like the lead in the clip, so pick a photo where its face is sharp.
How long is the video and what format is it?
Human is about 14 seconds (the crowd routine and the trio) in a wide 4:3 frame. Pet is about 15 seconds (the zoom-out, the crowd and the trio) in a wide frame. Both are 720p MP4 files with the song and no watermark, and take a few minutes to make.
Is this the same as the Lonyo AI trend on Instagram?
Yes, it is the same idea. The Lonyo AI trend posts swap the music video's dancers for film heroes, superheroes or cats. Here Human puts you at the front of an adult street dance crew, and Pet puts your pet in the cat crew, with the same routine, drone camera and song.
Which AI models make the Lonyo AI video?
Top-quality AI video models, including Seedance 2.5: they copy the clip shot for shot and change only the lead dancer into you or your pet. You do not need to write a prompt.
