A slideshow post is a short-form post made of several still images instead of moving footage, advanced automatically or by swipe, usually with text on each image and a trending sound behind it.
TikTok calls it a photo post, Instagram calls it a carousel, and creators call the whole family slideshows. The mechanics differ slightly per platform, but the content pattern is identical: a hook image, three to eight payoff images, and a final image that asks for the comment or the follow.
A video plays at a fixed speed. A slideshow does not. The viewer controls the pace, so an image with dense text holds them until they finish reading it, and TikTok counts that time. A slideshow with six images that each take three seconds to read outlasts a 10-second video on the same topic.
That is also the failure mode. An image with nothing to read gets swiped in half a second, and the post ends before the sound reaches its drop.
MakeViral's four-photo reveal format renders a slideshow-style clip as a video, with a headline, four generated panels and a music bed. See the AI TikTok video generator for the wider set of TikTok formats.
