Fake text story video

The format works because it is the reading experience people already have all day. A viewer does not have to be told who is speaking. The blue bubble is one person, the grey bubble is the other, and the delay before the next message does the same job a pause does in a film.

How the format is built

• A chat thread with a contact name at the top, often an emoji or a nickname that sets up the joke.
• Messages revealed on a timer, with the typing indicator between them.
• Two voices, one per side, so the viewer can follow without reading every word.
• Either a full-screen thread, or the thread on the top half with gameplay on the bottom half. That second layout is a split-screen video.

Where creators get it wrong

Pacing. A real conversation has uneven gaps, and a video that reveals every message at the same interval reads as a slideshow. The best versions hold on the typing indicator before the line that turns the story.

The second mistake is length. A thread needs a twist by the 20-second mark, or viewers leave before the payoff and average view duration collapses.
