A chat ad reads like a message, not a commercial. Here is why it converts, 12 full scripts by skin and angle, and what each ad costs. Build one now.
A fake text message ad is a vertical video ad rendered as a chat between two people. One person raises a problem, the other names a product, and the last message gives a soft instruction. It works because a viewer reads a chat before deciding to. Six to twelve messages, 10 credits per ad on MakeViral.
A cold feed is a queue of things a viewer has no reason to watch. Every normal ad announces itself in the first frame: a logo, a product on white, a person starting a sentence with "so". The viewer has seen the shape a thousand times and scrolls past the shape, not the content.
A chat skips the announcement. Three things happen in the first second:
There is a fourth reason that matters for cost: nothing has to be shot. No creator, no product in hand, no lighting. The whole ad is written, which means you can make twelve of them in an afternoon and let the feed pick the winner.
The format also fits the way people buy on a phone. A conversation gives you a place to put the objection and answer it in the same ad, which a 15-second talking head rarely has room for.
Same interface, two different jobs, and mixing them up is the most common mistake in this format.
| Story video | Text message ad | |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Reach, comments, follows | Clicks, installs, purchases |
| Ends on | A twist | One soft instruction |
| Product | None | Named once or twice |
| Length | 12 to 20 messages | 6 to 12 messages |
| Voice | Drama | Ordinary recommendation |
| Where it runs | Organic feed | Paid placement |
A story video earns attention by withholding. An ad has to spend that attention inside 20 seconds, so it cannot withhold: the viewer has to know by message three what problem is being solved.
If you want the organic version, the fake text message video generator makes the story format with a gameplay background and a voice reading it, and how to make fake text message videos covers writing the twist. Everything below is the ad.
Twelve complete scripts, each labelled with its skin, its angle and its product category. Copy the structure, replace the product, and write it in your own customer's words. Every name here is invented.

A Notes ad is not a conversation. It is one screen of typed lines, revealed in order, in the founder's own voice.

The first message is the ad. Everything after it is delivery.
Eight words or fewer. A long first bubble reads as a paragraph and gets skipped. "ok what did you change" is six words and it works because the viewer wants to know too.
Write it as an interruption, not an opener. The best first messages land in the middle of something. No "hey", no "so I wanted to tell you about".
Make it about the reader's problem, not your product. "why is your coffee better than mine" beats "have you tried these beans".
Never open on a question nobody asks. "Tired of dull skin?" is a headline wearing a chat bubble. A real person does not text that.
Four openers that carry their own weight: a noticed change ("your skin looks different"), a direct demand ("HOW"), an admitted doubt ("i am not paying 120 for sneakers"), a refusal ("not telling").
Texting voice, not copywriting voice. Five rules cover it.
The last message is the call to action and it has to stay soft. "link is in my story if you want it" converts better than "shop now" because it matches the voice of everything above it. Hard buttons belong on the platform, not inside the chat.
Pick the app your buyers message in. A WhatsApp ad shown to a US consumer audience reads as foreign, and an iMessage ad shown to an Android-heavy market reads as someone else's phone.
| Skin | Pick it when | Open it |
|---|---|---|
| iMessage | US, UK, Canada, Australia consumer audiences | iMessage ad builder |
| Europe, Latin America, India, the Middle East, most B2B outside the US | WhatsApp chat ad builder | |
| Messenger | Audiences that live in Facebook groups and Marketplace | Messenger ad builder |
| Apple Notes | A founder note, a list, an apology, anything that is not a two-way chat | Apple Notes ad builder |
Each skin has its own tool page with the format rules written out: the text message ad generator for the format in general, the iMessage ad generator, the WhatsApp chat video generator, the Messenger chat video generator and the Apple Notes video generator.
A short chat between two people that ends on your product. Four skins, six angles, rendered vertical at 1080x1920 with optional voices.
Six failures account for most flat results in this format.
A text-conversation ad is 10 credits on MakeViral, and one run produces up to 5 ads. A credit is about 10 cents on the 49.99 dollar plan for 500 credits, and about 6.7 cents on the 199.99 dollar plan for 3,000 credits.
| Output | Credits | On the 49.99 plan | On the 199.99 plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| One ad | 10 | 1.00 | 0.67 |
| A run of 5 ads | 50 | 5.00 | 3.33 |
| Twenty ads, four runs | 200 | 20.00 | 13.34 |
