WhatsApp Chat Video Maker

Green header, blue ticks, doodle wallpaper and an "online" status. The chat skin for every market where WhatsApp is the messenger people actually open.

A WhatsApp chat video maker turns a product pitch into a fake WhatsApp conversation and renders it as a vertical video: green header, delivery ticks, doodle wallpaper, messages arriving one at a time. MakeViral writes the thread, exports it at 1080x1920 and 30 frames per second, with optional voices.

What is a WhatsApp chat video ad?

It is a short vertical video that looks like somebody recorded their own WhatsApp thread. Two people talk, one of them mentions your product and gives a reason, and the conversation ends on a soft line rather than a link.

The format is the same across all four MakeViral chat skins: 6 to 12 messages, the first one a hook in eight words or fewer, casual lowercase writing, one emoji at most per message, the product named once or twice, and the last message a gentle push instead of a call to action shouted at the camera.

What changes is the interface. This skin renders the WhatsApp screen at 1080x1920, 30 frames per second, on Remotion: the green header bar with the contact name and "online" underneath it, the pale doodle wallpaper behind the bubbles, green outgoing bubbles on the right, white on the left, and the tick marks under every message you send. Each message is preceded by a typing indicator and lands on its own.

Voiceover is optional and it works per message. With it on, the two sides alternate a female and a male voice, so the thread plays as a scene. With it off you get typing sounds, which is what you want for a muted feed. A vertical gameplay clip can run behind the phone frame when the ad needs background motion.

This is one of four skins on the AI ad generator hub. The text message ad overview compares them all, and you can open the WhatsApp ad builder whenever you are ready.

Why does the WhatsApp skin sell better outside the US?

Because a chat ad only works when the viewer recognizes the screen without thinking, and outside the United States that screen is almost never blue.

In India, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, most of Latin America, Spain, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands, WhatsApp is the messenger people open first in the morning. Family group chats, small business orders, delivery updates and payment confirmations all live there. Show someone in São Paulo a green header and they read a message. Show them an iMessage blue bubble and they read an American advertisement, because that is not what their phone looks like.

MarketRight skinWhy
United States, CanadaiMessageiPhone messaging is the default and the blue bubble is the familiar one
India, Indonesia, NigeriaWhatsAppAndroid-first markets where WhatsApp carries personal and business chat
Brazil, Mexico, ArgentinaWhatsAppWhatsApp is where the group chat and the small business order live
Spain, Italy, Germany, NetherlandsWhatsAppCross-network messaging settled on WhatsApp years ago
United Kingdom, AustraliaiMessage or WhatsAppMixed. Worth a 20-credit test rather than a guess
Facebook and Instagram placements, 40+ buyersMessengerThe interface that audience already has open

Three practical consequences. First, if you sell to a diaspora audience, the WhatsApp skin is almost always right, because that is the app people use to talk to home. Second, if you sell a remittance, travel, SIM, language or shipping product, the skin is doing half your targeting for you. Third, if you run the same offer in two countries, render two ads rather than one. It is 20 credits to stop guessing.

What do the ticks, the wallpaper and "online" actually do?

Every skin has a handful of details that the viewer has stopped noticing consciously and would notice instantly if they were wrong. WhatsApp has more of them than any other chat interface, and each one carries meaning.

DetailWhat the viewer reads into it
One grey tickSent, not delivered. The other person's phone is off or out of signal
Two grey ticksDelivered but not opened. The quiet ignore
Two blue ticksRead. Now the silence after it means something
"online" under the nameThey are there right now, which makes a pause deliberate
"typing..." under the nameThe same drumroll as the dots, but written in words
Doodle wallpaperThe default background almost nobody changes, so it reads as untouched
Green outgoing bubblesThe one color that says WhatsApp before a single word is read

Blue ticks are the strongest storytelling tool in the skin. "Read, and no reply" is a whole beat with no copy in it. In an ad, use it once: put the blue ticks under the message that raises the objection, hold, then let the answer arrive. The pause reads as a person thinking rather than a script running.

The status line under the contact name is the second tool. Switching from "online" to "typing..." right before your product is named gives that message a build-up, and the build-up is why people read a name they would otherwise scroll past.

Do not use all seven at once. Pick the two that suit the angle and let the rest sit in the background doing their quiet job.

Two WhatsApp ad scripts you can copy the shape of

Both are written the way people type in a real WhatsApp thread: short, lowercase, unpunctuated, a little impatient.

Secret: a money transfer app

Them / YouMessage
Themdon't tell the group chat
Youok now i have to know
Themi stopped using the bank for transfers
Youto send money home?
Themyeah. the rate was eating me alive
Youhow much were you losing
Themenough that i noticed every month
Youso what are you using
ThemSendo. it shows the rate before you send
Youand it actually arrives
Themsame day so far, every time
Yousending you my details now, quietly

The secret angle is the strongest cold hook in the set, and this is why: message one gives the viewer a reason to stay that has nothing to do with a product. Notice that the seller in the thread is the other person, not "you". The recommendation arrives as a confession.

Testimonial: an English speaking practice app

Them / YouMessage
Themyou spoke in the meeting today
Youi know. i'm still shaking
Themyou never do that
Youi've been practicing every night
Themwith who
Youan app. it just talks back
Themthat's not the same as real people
Youit corrects me and nobody hears it
Themok what is it called
YouTalkback. fifteen minutes before bed
Themsince when
Yousince june. today i didn't rehearse first

The result comes first and the product explains it. "You spoke in the meeting today" is the outcome a language learner wants, and it is far more specific than any feature. Message seven is the objection, raised by the friend, answered in one line.

Both threads name the product exactly once, and neither ends with a link. The caption does that job.

How do you write one ad that travels across markets?

A WhatsApp ad has to survive translation, and most of them do not. Four rules make the difference.

Write in the short sentences people text in, not the ones they write in. Four to eight words per message. Short lines translate cleanly and long ones fall apart, because idiom lives in the clauses.

Cut idiom completely. "Night and day", "a steal", "hands down" all go strange in another language. "I stopped losing money every month" survives anywhere.

Keep numbers, drop currency where you can. "Fifteen minutes before bed" reads the same in every market. A price in dollars does not, and a rendered video cannot be updated when your local price changes. Put pricing in the caption.

Change the names, not the beats. The structure of a thread is universal. The contact name, the greeting habit and the emoji are not. Render one version per market rather than one version for everybody.

Here is the run that does it without waste:

  1. Write one script and one hook.
  2. Generate five ads in the WhatsApp skin for your main market. 50 credits.
  3. Keep the winner, then generate the same thread again with localized names and greetings for the second market. Another 50 credits.
  4. Only then change the angle.

At 10 credits an ad, that is 100 credits total, which is $10.00 on the $49.99 plan for 500 credits or about $6.70 on the $199.99 plan for 3,000 credits. Full credit costs are on the pricing page, and MakeViral does not post or schedule anything, so the uploading stays with you.

Is this the same as a fake WhatsApp story video?

No. MakeViral makes chat ads and chat story videos, and they are aimed at different outcomes.

WhatsApp chat ad (this page)Fake text message story video
GoalOne product, one tapReach and watch time
Messages6 to 1212 to 20
ProductNamed onceNot in it
EndingSoft call to actionA twist, then stop
LayoutPhone frame, gameplay optionalChat on top, gameplay always below
VoicesOptional, one per sideTwo AI voices reading every line

The story format is drama: a wrong number, a discovery, a confession, told over gameplay so the eye stays busy. It is built to be watched by strangers who will never buy anything. This ad format is built to be watched by someone who might.

The full-screen iMessage story video is the silent version of the same story idea, where the tension comes from waiting for a reply. Again: different job, not a competitor.

Keep them apart in practice. Story videos belong on a content account that needs volume. WhatsApp chat ads belong on the product account and behind paid spend, where the green header is doing targeting work as much as creative work.

What breaks a WhatsApp chat ad?

  • An American thread in a green skin. If the writing is full of US slang, the interface will not save it. Write the way your market texts.
  • Blue ticks on an incoming message. Ticks appear under messages you send, never under the ones you receive. It is a small error that the audience spots instantly.
  • A changed wallpaper. The default doodle background reads as untouched and real. A custom one reads as a designer's choice.
  • The product in message one. Name it after the reason, around message nine. Cold viewers do not want a product, they want the story that leads to one.
  • Long paragraphs. WhatsApp bubbles are short. If a message wraps to three lines on a phone, cut it in two.
  • A price inside the video. Currency and pricing change per market and a rendered file does not. Put them in the caption.
  • Emoji on every line. One per message at most. Two feels like a brand trying to sound young.
  • Real numbers, names or profile photos. Everything in the thread is fictional, and phone numbers especially never appear.
  • No ad label. Disclose it wherever you run it, and use the platform's branded content control when there is one.

FAQ

Questions people ask

What is a WhatsApp chat video maker?
It writes a short fake WhatsApp conversation about your product and renders it as a vertical video: green header, doodle wallpaper, delivery ticks and messages arriving one at a time behind a typing indicator. The export is 1080x1920 at 30 frames per second, with optional per-message voices.
When should I pick WhatsApp over iMessage?
When your buyers are not iPhone-default. WhatsApp is the messenger people open first in India, Brazil, Nigeria, Indonesia, most of Latin America and much of Europe, so the green header reads as familiar there while a blue bubble reads as a foreign interface. In the US and Canada, flip it.
Does it show the blue ticks?
Yes. Sent, delivered and read ticks render under your outgoing messages, along with the online and typing status under the contact name. Use blue ticks once per ad, under the message that raises the objection, so the pause before the answer reads as a person thinking rather than a script running.
How many messages should a WhatsApp ad be?
Six to twelve, and four to eight words per message. The first message is the hook in eight words or fewer, the product is named once near the end, and the last message is a soft close. Short lines also survive translation, which matters if you run the same ad in two markets.
Can I add voices to the conversation?
Yes, per message. With voices on, the two sides alternate a female and a male voice so the thread plays as a scene. With voices off you get typing sounds only, which suits muted feeds. Run the winning script both ways, because one setting usually beats the other per placement.
Is it legal to make a fake WhatsApp chat ad?
A fictional conversation about your own product is ordinary creative. The limits are about honesty and identity: never use a real person's name, phone number, photo or profile picture, never put words in a real company's mouth, and label the video as an ad wherever you run it.
What does a WhatsApp chat ad cost?
Ten credits per ad, with up to five ads per run. That is $1.00 per ad on the $49.99 plan with 500 credits, or about $0.67 per ad on the $199.99 plan with 3,000 credits. New accounts start with zero credits. Cancel anytime, 14-day refund window on unused credits.
Can MakeViral post the video to WhatsApp or TikTok for me?
No. MakeViral generates and exports the file and nothing else. There is no scheduling, no account connection, no auto-posting and no analytics screen. You download the 1080x1920 video and upload it yourself, which also means you keep the caption and the disclosure under your control.
