What the Button Eye Doll video looks like

This is the creator's own makeup reel with its own sound, credited to her, not a MakeViral result. Your video is AI-made from your selfie and keeps your own hair and clothes.

Original reel by @palomahendersonn, 10 s

The original reel by @palomahendersonn: she swipes past the lens and comes back as the Other Mother, with porcelain skin, cracks and black button eyes (real makeup). The Button eyes reveal version makes an original button-eye doll look of you from one selfie.

Step by step

How to make the Button Eye Doll video on MakeViral

Everything runs in the browser. No editing app, no prompt to write, no watermark.

  1. Add your photo

Press "Create your own" and add your selfie, chest up, face clear. Take it with the camera or pick it from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button shows the price. Seedance 2.5 films the Button Eye Doll scene straight from your photo, with no in-between picture, for 10 seconds with original sound. You write no prompt.

  3. Download or share

The video is ready in a few minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share it from your phone, or find it later in My videos.

Which photo works best?

You need one selfie, the same photo for both versions.

  • Chest up, face straight to the camera or turned a little, sharp and in good light. The reveal ends on a close-up of your face, so a blurry face shows.
  • Eyes open, nothing over the face: no sunglasses, no mask, no hand in front of it. The buttons go where your eyes are.
  • Your own hair and clothes stay in the result, so wear the outfit you want to see. Dark clothes fit the creepy look.
  • One person per photo: yourself, or an adult who said yes. No photos of children.

Where did the Button Eye Doll trend start?

Coraline is a 2002 novella and a 2009 stop-motion film. Its Other Mother has black button eyes, wants to sew buttons onto a girl's eyes, and sends her a small doll that looks just like her.

In late September 2026 the look became a TikTok trend in three waves. First, AI doll look-alikes: on 24 September @sunny_bunny073 showed how she made "My own Coraline", four stop-motion frames of herself, with one ChatGPT prompt (667,500 views by 24 October), and from 26 September a CapCut "Me as Coraline" template turned selfies into button-eyed dolls. Second, makeup reveals: on 2 October @palomahendersonn swiped past the lens and came back as the Other Mother, 1.5 million views. Third, costume walks: on 4 October three friends walked as Coraline, the Other Mother and the Other Father to "Ramalama (Bang Bang)", 65.3 million views by 23 October. On 24 October #coraline had 1.1 million TikTok videos.

MakeViral turns the trend into an original button eye doll of you: your own face, hair and clothes, never the film's characters.

Button eyes reveal

Video prompt

A button eyes doll makeup reveal, like a real vertical Halloween makeup video filmed on a phone held at arm's length in a dim bedroom: the person faces the camera from the chest up. Photorealistic, one take with one hand-swipe transition. The person in the clip is the person in [Image 1], in every frame: copy the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles) and the clothes from [Image 1], so their friends recognize them at once. The face shape, nose, mouth, hair and clothes stay the same from the first frame to the last, also under the doll makeup after the swipe: never a different person, never morph. 0-4 s, BEFORE: the person exactly as in [Image 1], no makeup look, relaxed, looking calmly into the lens with a small curious tilt of the head. 4-5 s, THE SWIPE: they sweep one open hand across the lens from one side to the other, and the frame goes dark for a moment behind the hand, with a soft whoosh. 5-10 s, AFTER: the hand moves away and the same person is revealed as an unsettling handmade porcelain doll: porcelain-white doll skin with fine black hairline cracks across the forehead, the cheeks and the jaw, two oversized glossy black four-hole buttons in place of the eyes, sewn on with carefully stitched black thread at the button edges, thin high-arched black eyebrows and dark plum lips; no real eyes show anywhere, only the two buttons. Keep the same identifiable facial outline, hairstyle, clothing colors and pose from [Image 1]. The room now sits in deep purple and green shadow with one soft light on the face. They tilt the head slowly to one side, a slow, strange smile spreads, and one hand reaches toward the camera as it pushes in on the button-eyed face. The face stays large, sharp and well lit. Not a film character: no black bob wig unless [Image 1] shows one, no polka-dot dress, no yellow raincoat, no blue hair, no needle, no thread in the hands. No blood, no gore. Audio: a slow, creepy music-box lullaby, a whoosh on the swipe and a soft creak at the reveal, no words, no singing. Exactly one person. No text, no subtitles, no logos, no watermark.

Turn the first picture into this animated character, transfer them into all of these pictures. The first picture is the uploaded image: one real person. This animated character: a handmade stop-motion puppet doll of that same person, as if built for a dark-fantasy stop-motion film: a slim puppet body with a slightly large head, smooth matte clay skin in the person's own skin tone, their own face shape, nose, mouth and eyebrows, their own hairstyle and hair color made of fine wool strands, their own clothes from the uploaded image remade as small stitched fabric clothes, and two glossy black four-hole buttons sewn in place of the eyes with neat black thread. No real eyes show, only the two buttons. All of these pictures: one vertical 9:16 image made of four frames in a 2x2 grid with thin dark lines between them, like four stills from the same stop-motion film, the same doll in every frame: TOP LEFT: a close shot of the doll looking up with a curious face in a dim old hallway with faded patterned wallpaper. TOP RIGHT: the doll sits at a long dinner table by candlelight in front of a tall birthday cake with lit candles, its chin resting on one hand, bored. BOTTOM LEFT: the doll stands under a crooked bare tree on a foggy hill at dusk, holding a small round lantern. BOTTOM RIGHT: a close-up of the doll's face, a soft highlight on the two black buttons and a faint smile. Real miniature set photography, matte clay skin, visible fabric fibers and wool strands, small handmade imperfections, soft cinematic light in muted teal, plum and amber. Not a film character: no yellow raincoat, no blue hair, no hair clip, no pink house, no small door in the wall, no polka-dot dress. Exactly one character. No text, no captions, no title, no logos, no watermark.

What happens in the button eyes reveal, second by second?

The Button eyes reveal follows the beats of the Other Mother makeup reels, with you in the main part:

SecondsWhat happens
0 to 4You, as in your selfie, look calmly into the lens in a dim bedroom, with a small curious tilt of the head.
4 to 5You sweep one open hand across the lens, and the frame goes dark for a moment.
5 to 10The reveal: porcelain-white doll skin with fine black cracks, two glossy black four-hole buttons sewn on in place of the eyes, thin arched brows and dark plum lips. The room turns purple and green, you tilt your head, a slow smile spreads, and your hand reaches toward the camera as it pushes in.

How it is made. The video is built straight from your selfie with top-quality AI video models, with no in-between picture, so your face shape, hair and clothes stay yours after the swipe. Nobody shared a prompt for this video, so the template uses our own, written from the beats of the trend's reels. You write no prompt.

The sound. The clip comes with its own creepy music-box tune, a whoosh on the swipe and a soft creak at the reveal. It is 10 seconds, vertical, 720p, and the exact price shows on the Generate button before you spend anything.

What does the doll photo look like?

The Doll photo is the "my coraline doll" side of the trend, the answer to "make me a Coraline doll that looks like me": a puppet doll of you, as if made for a stop-motion film. You get one vertical picture with four film frames in a 2x2 grid, the same doll in each:

  1. A close shot of the doll looking up in a dim old hallway with faded wallpaper.
  2. The doll at a candlelit dinner table in front of a birthday cake, chin on one hand, bored.
  3. The doll under a crooked bare tree on a foggy hill at dusk, holding a small lantern.
  4. A close-up of the face, with light on the two black buttons.

The doll has matte clay skin, your face shape and skin tone, your hairstyle in wool strands, your own clothes remade in stitched fabric, and two black buttons sewn on for eyes. It uses the same prompt the trend's creators shared on TikTok ("Turn the first picture into this animated character, transfer them into all of these pictures"), with the film stills they attached swapped for a doll and four frames of our own. It is the AI way to get a Coraline doll of yourself, with no sewing. A photo costs far less than the video, and it is ready in under a minute.

Is this the real Coraline character?

No. Coraline, the Other Mother and the Other Father are characters of a book and a film, so MakeViral does not copy them. Both versions make an original button eye doll of you: your own face, hair and clothes, with no yellow raincoat, no blue hair, no pink house and no polka-dot dress. Many people search how to turn yourself into a Coraline character; here you turn into an original button eye doll instead. The trend's search names, like "Coraline filter" or "other mother ai", stay on this page only so you can find it.

Want the full costume walk? The friends in the 65.3 million-view reel did it for real, with makeup and costumes. For a pet costume walk to the same song, use the Ramalama Bang Bang trend. To try a Halloween costume on your own photo first, use the AI Halloween costume try-on. For a softer doll of you, there is the crochet filter.

FAQ

Button Eye Doll trend questions

What is the Coraline filter trend?
It is a Halloween 2026 TikTok trend that turns you into a doll with black button eyes, the look of the Other Mother from the film Coraline. Some people use AI to make a doll look-alike of themselves, some do the makeup by hand with a swipe reveal, and groups walk in costumes. This template does the AI part from one selfie.
Why is Coraline trending right now?
Halloween. Button eyes are an easy, creepy look, and in late September 2026 AI doll look-alikes, Other Mother makeup reveals and costume walks all took off on TikTok at once. The biggest costume walk had 65.3 million views by 23 October 2026.
How do I make my own Coraline doll of myself with AI?
Press "Create your own", pick Doll photo, add one selfie and press Generate. You get four stop-motion style frames of a button eye doll that looks like you, with your hair and clothes. This is the "my coraline doll" and "coraline doll look alike" side of the trend, also called the my Coraline trend or the my own Coraline trend, and you need no prompt.
Is there a Coraline AI prompt I can copy?
The trend's creators shared one on TikTok: "Turn the first picture into this animated character transfer her into all of these pictures", sent to ChatGPT with a selfie and a collage of film stills. The Doll photo uses those words, with the film stills swapped for an original doll and four frames of our own, so you need no Coraline AI photo prompt or ChatGPT prompt of your own.
Is there a CapCut template for the Coraline AI trend?
Yes. A "Me as Coraline" CapCut template went around from 26 September 2026: a black cat wipes across a selfie and leaves a doll with button eyes. Its results show a caption over the picture. This page makes the look from your photo with no template link to find and no caption.
Can I do the Other Mother makeup without makeup?
Yes, that is the Button eyes reveal. The Other Mother makeup reels take hours of face paint, a wig and button prosthetics. Here one selfie gives you the swipe and the reveal, with porcelain skin, cracks and black button eyes, in about 5 to 15 minutes. For real Other Mother makeup for Halloween, the reels on #othermother show the steps.
How long is the video and what do I get?
The Button eyes reveal is a 10-second vertical 720p video with its own creepy music-box sound. The Doll photo is one vertical picture with four frames. Both wait in My videos when they are ready, and the exact price shows on the Generate button first.
Can I make it with my friends or my pet?
Not yet. Both versions take one selfie of one adult. For a pet in a Halloween costume walk, use the Ramalama Bang Bang trend page. A friends version may come if the group costume walks keep growing.
Is the Coraline AI filter scary for kids?
The button eyes look is creepy on purpose, and this template is for adults: use a photo of yourself or of an adult who said yes. Do not upload photos of children.
Is my photo private?
Yes. MakeViral does not post your photo or the result anywhere or show them to other users. The result goes to your private My videos page, and you can delete it there at any time. Keep the platform's AI label on when you post.
