The can can dance trend is the comic take on the old Paris high-kick dance, also spelled cancan dance: hops, kicks and flapping arms to Offenbach's tune. MakeViral plays the viral solo with you from one photo, puts you and two friends into a kick line, or dresses your pet in a red can-can dress.

How to make the Can Can Dance video on MakeViral

Everything runs in the browser. No editing app, no prompt to write, no watermark.

  1. Add your photo

Press "Create your own" and add you, head to feet. Take it with the camera or pick it from your library.

  2. Press Generate

The button shows the price. Kling 3.0 Motion Control takes the moves of the Can Can dance clip and plays them with the one in your photo, in your photo's own scene, for about 13 seconds, with the reel's original sound. You write no prompt.

  3. Download or share

The video is ready in a few minutes as a 9:16 MP4. Download it, share it from your phone, or find it later in My videos.

Which photo works best?

Solo: one photo of you standing, head to feet in view, face to the camera. The video plays in your photo's own place and frame, so stand where you have room to kick. Wear trousers or shorts: the result puts you in long trousers anyway.

Trio: three photos, one person each, face sharp and to the camera. Photo 1 is the middle dancer, photo 2 the left, photo 3 the right. Waist-up photos are fine: all three get the reel's bright sweatsuits.

Pet: one sharp photo of your cat or dog, whole body, eyes visible, in good light. It gets the red dress and the boots.

No sunglasses, masks or beauty filters. Only adults who agreed to be in the video, or your own pets.

Where did the Can Can Dance trend start?

The can-can started in the dance halls of Paris in the 1830s and became the show dance of the Moulin Rouge, which opened in 1889: a line of dancers, high kicks and big skirts. The tune everyone knows is the "Infernal Galop" from Jacques Offenbach's operetta Orpheus in the Underworld (1858).

On TikTok the can-can turned into a joke. On 15 May 2023, @happykelli posted a trio in a living room, in bright matching sweatsuits, doing claps, hip sways and a kick line with linked arms: 6.9 million views. On 11 April 2024, @thisisnotaprilatall posted her own "silly little dance" to the tune: hops with high knees, kicks and flapping arms. It reached 30.7 million views and 5.0 million likes, and duos, couples and families copied it as the can can trend. By 22 October 2026, the two main can-can sounds had 467,600 and 178,300 TikTok videos, and #cancan had 3.6 billion views.

AI joined too: on 1 June 2025, @morph_verse posted an AI kitten in a red can-can dress dancing on a Paris street (273,200 views), and on 21 October 2026 two AI video sites added a can can dance AI template.

Video prompt

Replace the character in the video with the person from the uploaded image. Keep actions, poses, facial expressions, camera movement and rhythm. Preserve the person's original facial features, maintain character consistency, no distortion, no glitches, no artifacts. The person dances in the place from the uploaded image, in the top and the shoes from the uploaded image with long loose trousers, never a skirt or a dress, not the dark green leather bomber jacket and the ripped light-blue jeans of the woman in the video, and keeps their own hair from the uploaded image, not short curly black hair. Follow the woman's moves and timing exactly: a silly, playful can-can: little hops on the spot with the knees pulled up high, quick kicks to the front and to the side, a jump with both knees tucked up, the arms flung out wide and flapping, a twist of the hips from side to side, then more high kicks and hops toward the camera with a cheeky grin. Keep the whole body in view from head to feet, filmed from chest height, with natural balance and stable ground contact. Exactly one person, no other people. One continuous shot. Comic and playful: no close-ups of the body. No text, no captions, no logos.

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same bright living room with white walls, a fireplace and a grey sofa behind, the same wooden floor, the same fixed camera at knee height, the same framing, timing and moves, one take with no cuts. The ONLY change: replace the three people in the video with the people in the three reference images, one each, and keep the scene of the reference video unchanged. Use [Image 1] as adult Person A in the middle, [Image 2] as adult Person B on the left, [Image 3] as adult Person C on the right, in [Video 1]. Keep each face, hairstyle and screen position; do not swap roles or merge identities. A: [Image 1] replaces the woman in the middle (long blonde hair under a yellow beanie, bright blue hoodie, coral sweatpants) in EVERY frame: the exact face from [Image 1] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles). NO yellow beanie and no long blonde hair unless [Image 1] shows them. B: [Image 2] replaces the bearded man on the left (teal cap, lilac sweatshirt, dark green sweatpants) in EVERY frame: the exact face from [Image 2] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles). NO teal cap and no beard unless [Image 2] shows them. C: [Image 3] replaces the woman on the right (brown hair in a bun, dark green hoodie, pale lime sweatpants) in EVERY frame: the exact face from [Image 3] (the face shape, eye color and eye shape, eyebrows, nose, mouth, skin tone, age, hair color, hair length and hairstyle, and any beard, moustache, glasses or freckles). NO bun unless [Image 3] shows one. The bright matching outfits are part of the joke: each person wears the hoodie or sweatshirt and the loose sweatpants of the dancer they replace, plain with no logo, never the clothes from their photo, never a skirt or a dress. The same real people from the first second to the last, so their friends recognize them at once. Never morph, never drift back to the original dancers' faces. All three change: no one from the video stays. The dance, matching the reference second by second: 0-4 s: the middle person kicks forward with the hands on the hips, then claps high above the head and hops; the two at the sides clap above their heads and lift their knees. 4-9.5 s: all three, hands on the hips, sway, step from side to side and bend the knees on the beat. 9.5-15 s: they step close, link arms and do the can-can kick line: high kicks in turn, with big smiles. A comic, playful dance, no close-ups of the body. One head per person, on their own shoulders; a face never appears on knees, legs, hands or clothes. Each person has two arms and two legs, no extra legs in the kick line. Exactly three people, no one else. No text, no captions, no logos, no watermark.

Video prompt

Recreate the reference video [Video 1] shot for shot: the same cobblestone street in an old European city at dusk, the warm street lamps and the glowing cafe fronts on the left, the blurred people who stand and sit at the cafe tables and watch, the tall iron lattice tower lit in gold at the end of the street, the same low camera close to the ground, the same framing, timing and moves, one continuous take with no cuts. The ONLY change: the kitten in the red can-can dress is now the pet in [Image 1]. The dancer = the pet in [Image 1], whole body, in every frame: the same species and breed, head shape, muzzle, eyes, ears, fur colors, fur length and markings as in [Image 1], with the natural body volume and proportions of that animal: never flattened, squashed, stretched or merged with anything, so its owner instantly recognizes it. It stands upright on its hind legs like a little dancer the whole time. Only the head, the face, the ears, the fur and the paws change: the pet keeps the costume of the original dancer in every frame, the red satin can-can dress with the big ruffled skirt, the black feather headpiece and the small black lace-up boots. Never drift back to the kitten of the original video: not the coat, the stripes or the face of the kitten in the video unless [Image 1] shows them. If [Image 1] shows a dog or another animal, that animal dances in the same place with the same moves, with its own ears and muzzle. The dance, matching the reference second by second: 0-4.5 s: it faces the camera and sways from side to side with both front paws held out, the ruffled skirt swishing. 4.5-6.5 s: it leans to one side, looks down and swirls the skirt. 6.5-8.5 s: it twirls around, the skirt flying out. 8.5-10 s: it turns back to the camera with both front paws out in a happy pose. Real animal anatomy: furry front legs ending in round paws in their own fur, never human hands, no fingers. One head, two hind legs in the boots and two front legs, no extra legs or paws. Exactly one animal dances; the people behind stay small and blurred. No text, no captions, no logos, no watermark.

Can can dance origin and history: from Paris to TikTok

The can can dance origin is the Paris dance hall of the 1830s, where the quadrille got wilder kicks; the can can dance history then runs through the Moulin Rouge, where can can dancers in big skirts made it a stage show, and through the can can dance Moulin Rouge films. The can can music, the "Infernal Galop", is Offenbach's, from 1858; the composition itself is old, but every recording of it has its own owner. Looking for the can can song name? It is the Infernal Galop, often listed as "Can Can".

The TikTok version kept the can can dance kicks and dropped the glamour: everyday clothes, living rooms, flapping arms and a lot of laughing. That is what makes the can can dance funny, and why the can can dance meme works with three guys in sweatpants, a pet in a dress or a can can dance cartoon. Our versions stay comic and playful: long trousers or sweatpants on people, no body close-ups, adults and pets only.

FAQ

Can Can Dance trend questions

What is the can can dance trend on TikTok?
The can can dance trend is the comic can-can on TikTok: people hop, kick and flap their arms to the famous can-can tune, alone, in duos or in a kick line. The biggest reel, a solo by @thisisnotaprilatall from April 2024, has 30.7 million views; a trio by @happykelli from May 2023 has 6.9 million. People search it as the can can TikTok dance, the can can TikTok trend or just the can can TikTok.
How do I make a can can dance AI video?
Press "Create your own" and pick Solo (one full-body photo), Trio (three photos) or Pet (one pet photo). Press Generate; the button shows the price first. You get a can can dance video of 10 to 15 seconds with the music, no dance skills, no can can dance tutorial and no CapCut template needed. It works like an AI dance video generator built for this one dance.
What makes the can can dance funny?
The contrast: a cabaret dance done in sweatpants in a living room, with wobbly kicks and flapping arms. The can can dance moves are simple (hops, high knees, kicks to the front and side, a kick line with linked arms), so the fun is in the faces and the timing. The trio version, with a can can trio in matching sweatsuits, is the can can dance men and women do side by side.
Can my cat or dog do the can-can?
Yes. Pick Pet and add one photo. Your pet takes the place of the AI kitten in the red can-can dress: the same Paris street, the same sways and twirl. It is the cat can can dance of the can can cat videos, made with your own pet; it works for dogs too. For more pets that dance, see the La Calabaza dance or an AI dancing dog.
What is the can can song?
The can can song is the "Infernal Galop" from Offenbach's operetta Orpheus in the Underworld (1858). On TikTok the two main versions are "Can Can" by Rias Orchestra (467,600 videos) and "Cancan" by As des As (178,300 videos) on 22 October 2026. Your clip comes with the same seconds of music its reference reel uses: the can can dance song belongs to the owners of that recording, and MakeViral gives you no rights to it.
Is the can-can a sexy dance?
Not here. The TikTok can-can is a comedy dance, and our versions keep it that way: people dance in long trousers or sweatpants, the camera never zooms in on bodies, and this template is for adults and pets only.
Do I need to know the dance?
No. The AI copies the moves from the viral reels, so you only upload a photo. For an AI cat dance or the Trio, the AI puts your faces into the reel itself; for Solo it plays the moves with you in your own place.
Which hashtags fit a can can dance video?
#cancan (72,292 videos and 3.6 billion views on 22 October 2026), #frenchcancan (2,802 videos), #cancanchallenge (736) for the can can challenge or cancan challenge, #cancandance (579) and #cancantrend (188). The AI dance trend tags work too. Keep the platform's AI label on.
How long is the video and what format is it?
Solo makes about 13 seconds, Trio about 15 and Pet about 10, vertical 9:16 MP4 files with the music and no watermark. You can share it as a clip or turn a short loop into a can can dance gif. The can can dance animation look comes from the reel you pick.
