And the worst part? I paid it." 1. The wild moment, in one line. 2. Who I am, in one line. 3. How it started: small and normal. 4. It gets worse, and then worse again. 5. "So I did something." The plan. 6. The plan goes sideways, and the story stops right before the reveal. Part 2? - **Length:** 60 to 130 seconds. The six top TikTok posts sit at 126 seconds in the middle. - **Voice:** First person, past tense, fast and a little outraged: "And I just stood there." - **Look:** 2D cartoon pictures of the story itself. Many Reddit channels put the voice over cooking or Minecraft parkour clips instead. - **Captions:** Large white words with a black outline, in the center of the screen. - **Ending:** A cliffhanger with "Part 2?", or a question to the viewer like "Am I the jerk?" - **Posting:** @redditstories_doggo posted its last 10 videos in 4 days. ## Who makes storytime videos today | Creator | Platform | Followers | What they post | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | [rSlash](https://www.youtube.com/@rSlash) | YouTube | 1.8M | Reddit stories read aloud, 1.8B total views | | [@funnymixai](https://www.tiktok.com/@funnymixai) | TikTok | 935K | Stories it titles "AI Generated Story", in parts | | [@katmeowvibes](https://www.tiktok.com/@katmeowvibes) | TikTok | 797K | Animated family drama | | [@redditstories_doggo](https://www.tiktok.com/@redditstories_doggo) | TikTok | 271K | Long full Reddit stories | | [@wildstories704](https://www.tiktok.com/@wildstories704) | TikTok | 106K | | | [@aalex230](https://www.tiktok.com/@aalex230) | TikTok | 73.8K | Short full stories from Reddit questions | | [@dramanest71](https://www.tiktok.com/@dramanest71) | TikTok | 39.7K | Drama in episodes | Follower counts read on 2026-11-02. ## How creators make it by hand - **Reddit:** find a post with a strong first line, or write your own story, and cut it to two minutes. - **A text-to-speech voice:** read the story fast and conversational, about 180 words a minute. - **Background footage:** download cooking or Minecraft parkour clips to play under the voice, or draw the story scene by scene. - **Cantina:** one animated fruit story with 4.5M views carries the tag #madewithcantina. ([source](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/72851)) - Monetizing creators keep 45% of their share of Shorts ad revenue. ([source](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/12504220)) - YouTube does not pay for "AI-generated content made with generic or unoriginal templates" or for "videos where characters are put in the same situation over and over again with the same outcome". New stories with new twists are the safe side. ([source](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1311392)) - TikTok Creator Rewards pays only for original videos longer than one minute. Storytime posts already run past a minute. ([source](https://newsroom.tiktok.com/unlocking-even-more-opportunities-for-creators-with-the-creativity-program-beta?lang=en)) ## What is a storytime video? A storytime video is one person telling one wild thing that happened to them. It is told in first person, past tense, the way you tell a friend: *"My neighbor kept stealing my packages, so I sent him a fake one."* There is no face on screen. A voice tells the story, big captions follow every word, and pictures or background clips keep the eyes busy. Many storytime videos are Reddit stories: a post from a forum like "Am I the jerk?", read aloud. Others are original drama, often in parts. The hook is the first line. It gives away the strangest moment at once, so the viewer wants to know how it got there. Then the story gets worse, the plan goes wrong, and the video stops right before the answer. That is why "Part 2" posts get so many comments. ## Storytime and Reddit stories today This is one of the oldest faceless niches, and it is still big (all counts read November 2, 2026): - [rSlash](https://www.youtube.com/@rSlash) on YouTube has **1.85 million subscribers** and 1.82 billion total views across 2,831 videos. - [@katmeowvibes](https://www.tiktok.com/@katmeowvibes/video/7630769620911279382) got **19.5 million views** with "One Lie, One Fire, and a Family Torn Apart Forever". - [@dramanest71](https://www.tiktok.com/@dramanest71/video/7696551890900815135) got **11.4 million views** on "Ep 1 / I Bet Our Wedding Money on a Dead Man's Yacht", from an account with 39,706 followers. - On Instagram, [@reelhauskit](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DetKxlfRUPa/) got 865,258 views and 5,745 comments on a story about a teen with 300 iPhones at airport security. The account had 4,429 followers. Small accounts with one great story keep breaking out. Search is huge too: "reddit stories" gets 14,800 Google searches a month in the US, and "storytime video" gets 140. ## How to make a storytime video with AI 1. **Start with the wildest line.** Not "so this happened". Say the strange part first. 2. **Give one line of who you are.** Age, job or living situation, just enough. 3. **Go back to how it started.** Small and normal, so it feels real. 4. **Make it worse twice.** Each step should make the viewer say "no way". 5. **Add the plan.** "So I did something." Then let it go sideways. 6. **Stop before the reveal.** End on the line that makes people beg for Part 2. On MakeViral, you type the first line, or paste your own story (up to 800 words). The writer keeps this order, in first person, with made-up people and no real names. Each scene is drawn in the 2D cartoon look with the same characters, one narrator reads it, and captions and music are added. You can change any line before it renders. It takes about 3 to 6 minutes. When it is done, the Part 2 button goes on from the cliffhanger with the same characters, look and voice. ## How do creators make storytime videos by hand? The classic Reddit story video has four parts: a story from Reddit, a text-to-speech voice, a background clip (cooking, Minecraft parkour or a satisfying game) and word-by-word captions. It is fast to make, but the background has nothing to do with the story, and thousands of channels use the same clips. The newer kind draws the story itself. Some creators say which tools they use. One animated fruit story with 4.5 million views carries the tag [#madewithcantina](https://www.tiktok.com/@aivideocr3/video/7702276481027771678), and [another story video](https://www.tiktok.com/@oksanatsiupka_ai/video/7679528440130718996) says "Made with @OpenArt" in its caption. With tools like these, you still write the script, make every picture, keep the characters the same from scene to scene, record the voice and edit the captions yourself. MakeViral does all of it from one line: the script, the pictures with the same characters, the voice, the captions and the music. ## Are storytime stories real, and what does a video cost? Many people ask if Reddit stories are true. Nobody can check most of them. Some are real, some are made better in the telling, and some are written for views. Treat them as entertainment, and do not present a story as true news. On MakeViral, the storytime format writes fiction with made-up people. It uses no real names and keeps to everyday drama, nothing cruel. If you paste a story you found online, ask the author first or write your own version, and remove every real name and place that could point to a real person. A 60-second storytime video costs 132 credits with the format's default motion, and a 90-second one costs 186 credits. Credits come with a monthly plan, or as a $9.99 one-time pack of 100 credits. The voice works in 29 languages, so one good story can go out in English, Spanish and Portuguese. ## Frequently asked questions ### What is a storytime video generator? It is a tool that turns one line, like "My roommate charged me rent for my own apartment", into a short first-person story video. MakeViral writes the story, draws every scene in the 2D cartoon look, adds one narrator voice, captions and music, and gives you a 60-second 9:16 MP4 with no watermark. ### What are Reddit stories? Reddit stories are posts from Reddit forums, like "Am I the jerk?" or "Moms, what is the craziest thing your kid did?", read aloud in a short video. A voice tells the story, big captions follow the words, and a background clip or pictures play under it. They are one of the biggest faceless niches on TikTok and YouTube. ### Are Reddit stories true? Nobody can check most of them. Some are real, some grow in the telling, and some are written to get views. Watch them as entertainment. If you make storytime videos, do not present a story as true news, and remove real names and places so no real person can be found. ### Are most Reddit stories fake? Nobody knows the share, because the posts are anonymous and almost none can be checked. So the safe way is to treat every Reddit story as entertainment. That is also why storytime works well as fiction: on MakeViral the format writes made-up people and everyday drama from your one line. ### How do you make Reddit stories? Pick a post with a strong first line, cut it to about two minutes, add a voice, word-by-word captions and a background, then split long stories into parts. On MakeViral you paste the story (up to 800 words) or type one line, and the AI writes, draws, narrates and edits it in about 3 to 6 minutes. ### How do you make Reddit stories on TikTok? Make a 9:16 video longer than one minute, because TikTok Creator Rewards pays only for original videos over a minute. Put the wildest line first, keep the captions big and in the center, and end on a cliffhanger or a question so people comment. Post often: the top storytime accounts post every day. ### Can I paste my own story? Yes. Paste your story, up to 800 words. MakeViral keeps its events, cuts it to the length you pick and draws the scenes from it. Or type one line and let the AI write the whole story. Either way you can change any line before the video renders. ### Can I make Part 2? Yes. A storytime video ends on a cliffhanger. When it is done, press the Part 2 button. The next part goes on from the last line, with the same characters, the same look and the same voice, so viewers can follow the whole story. ## Related tools and guides - [Reddit Story Video Generator](https://www.makeviral.ai/tools/reddit-story-video-generator): Give it a premise, get a finished vertical video: Reddit post card, AI voice, word-by-word captions and gameplay behind it.
